Do titles truly matter?

I liked that. It fit with my own ethos.

"I don't care what title you have given yourself, prove you're not a moron."

I have literally said those exact words to billionaires, CEO's, COO's, etc. Some smile and get it. Some react like butthurt children. It's nice to know what I'm dealing with up front.

It's not really titles that look problematic to me, it's how WE relate to titles, and IF that lack of title is harming people involved. I can totally be okay with a relationship that doesn't say its name, for a while, if we both feel okay with that blurry status. But if it creates confusion, if we both are (over) interpreting things because we avoid the topic then I don't feel okay at all

I think academic titles have som functionality though professor doesn't seem to mean much in the US.

I think knighthoods etc have an old world charm. Salutary titles are useless unless a girl named Samantha wants to contract to Sam but not to be mistook for a man.

I believe it depends on your job/career and things associated as you go throughout your life. Titles that are earned mean more and are respected (for the most part) other titles given without certain background or blood sweat and tears can be used against a person as well.

Always look for the good and the background of people who have titles do they let it go to their head or are they truly able to have and carry that title.

Yes, the titles matter a ton, It helps you understand your Boundaries and the nature of your relationship.

I'm everything to my guy friend except for a girlfriend. We don't have a title for what we are other than friends and honestly it's probably best right now that we remain that way because of how he feels. He's scared he's not enough to be that serious with someone right now.

That's not what he meant. It's more complicated than that. I can't really give all the details of our long relationship and history but how he feels has nothing to do with me. It has everything to do with him.

I mean he's going through a lot with his family and a lot of his friends. His family and many of his friends makes him feel like shit. I'm there for him through all of that. He relies on me a lot. We both kind of rely on each other to pull each other out of our depressed states. I told you it's complicated.
