Was I in the wrong for telling this girl who wanted to date me that I didn't even wanna be friends?

This was when I was in highschool. We were both 17. This one girl really wanted to hangout with me, so we just walked around the school, and talked. Her and her ex weren't on good terms. He was in one of our classes. We were sitting near him, and he kept chuckling torwards us. She kept asking him if he was okay. It was very uncomfortable. Other than that, she was just very clingy. She always wanted to be around me. She eventually invited me to her house one day. We were gonna both ride the bus to her house after school. She was super excited. She was like "this is the first time my moms gonna let a boy come over!" I felt it was obvious she was interested in me as a boyfriend, and I just didn't feel the same. She just all around made feel uncomfortable and stressed. So it was kind of an impulse decision, but after school, I just walked up to her and straight up said I didn't wanna be friends without an explanation, then gave a half ass "sorry". She was like "oh, okay" then I just left. She texted me later, and said she was very upset, because she was planning on asking me out. I just told her that she's upsetting me, and she said sorry. We haven't talked since. Im feeling pretty guilty about it now. Should i?
