Girl who I dated ghosted me after saying she wanted to be friends?

Long story but I dated a girl who I first knew as a friend, we both just lost romantic interest and I pretty much told her “I’m okay to just be friends, I just want an answer to whether you want to see me romantically anymore.” You know, I gave her an ultimatum.

At this point even if she said she DID want to keep dating I was going to friend zone her anyway, but she did end up replying saying she does like me but wants to just be friends for now.

Fine by me.

I essentially said “no worries” in response, but reiterated that I did have feelings for her in case she thought I was leading her on at any point. She had just come out of a bad relationship and I wanted her to know that I wasn’t malicious or anything in my intent.

Anyway, she said she felt the same but wanted to just be friends.

I do want her as a friend, honestly we get along really well… so why would she ghost me after this? Did she ever care at all?
