I'm going to leave the "independent" label out of it for a moment because for statistically purposes, this means you are supporting yourself and living on your own. I'm just going to report stats pertaining to the USA, not the world at large.

According to the US Census Bureau (link below), in 1975, 66% of households reported as married. In 2025, 47% of households reported as married. That's a significant drop-off. Census stats

According to a study a Pew Research, in 1970 a full 67% of households were married couples having one or more children under 18. In 2025, that number dropped has dropped very significantly to 37%. Pew Research on Family Structure

These initial numbers do not address why's or where these non-married men and women are domiciled. There is information deeper into the studies. However, clearly there are far fewer married couples today and significantly more single people. As you would expect, the birth rate has also plummeted.

In 1970, the birth rate in the USA was approximately 18.4 births per 1,000 people, while recent data shows it has dropped to around 11.99 births per 1,000 people in 2025.

This also offers insight into the current "extinction burst behaviors" going on in the USA right now.

Why are you on here if you are a f boy? Well, its possible because I actually got on here when I was like 25 and posted a pic of myself to ask if I was attractive because I just got divorced by a 5 and I couldn’t get over a 7 on dating apps / sites. Attractive men know when they are, I just had low self-esteem and I was too accustomed/dependent on female validation. The reaction was people thought I was trolling (true, but more like fishing) or thought I was lying with my picture. Anyways, today most women thrive on validation and chase the top 5% for marriage and might bang the top 10%, they are the Quagmires - we are just for fun and/utility.

Men have to have the complete package to be a chad; tall, good hair, ripped, good looking and after 30 - rich too. So I kind of doubt you are all that, or at least still will be one in your 30s, UNLESS you want to be a f-boy to chunks / sub-mids. Which is a degrading role, hell its all self-deprecation to participate in hook-up “culture”.

Coming from ex-feminist: they are not. They are just saying this as a cope because their inner female biology craves man (women are weaker in one hell of a reason why women need men and not the opposite). But it forms a contradiction with the biggest false promise they have been indoctrinated with aka feminism telling them that they SHOULD not need men. And realizing that throughout history and reality that men are self-sufficient and stronger thus making them truly by biology independent and it is making women upset that they are not as powerful as men. Thus they fabricate this "women do not need men" constantly out of desperation because biology and nature says opposite.

In other words: modern women hate truth and biology. They hate not being men.

Because we can.

We aren't forced to marry a guy just to have something simple like a checking account and an income like we used to be forced to do. Now women have choices and we can be more selective about who we marry or if we even want to date at all.

Better question for you, why do men who say they are going their own way and not need a woman either, always bitch the most about women not finding love and make up myths about lonely women in their 30s and 40s who are mad about not having kids? Aren't those guys suppose to be independent too?

Because they know most men don't really want them and are not attracted to their "independent" attitude. So they pretend they're staying single by choice.

Them sleeping around doesn't mean anything. Lots of women have sex with guys they will never date or marry, they do it when they're lonely and horny or to show the world they can get sex because they are female to distract us and themselves from the fact that they are not really relationship material for most guys. They are just hoping men will envy them to distract from their true undesirability. But neither lifestyle of being "independent" or sleeping around makes them happy though.

Men would be able to see this if they would learn to stop falling into the trap of feeling sad for not having sex, because that is what women are hoping men will feel.

Many families have been led by parents with Alcohol and Drug problems. They have a tendency to raise sons and daughters who, because they have never found supportive love from their parents, don't know how to give. It is all about them. And of course they believe that their actions are normal because they are living what they learned. I believe that young people have felt the hurt and don't want to risk getting stuck in a situation like that. To them, no connection is better that a bad connection.

because women today know they have power over any straight man. Women today are very Independent, They are much more sexually open than years ago, they enjoy their freedom to much. Plus Girls actually do cheat just as much if not more than guys when they are in a relationship. I just Googled how many girls were on ONLYFANS, 210 million females selling their nudes and sex videos. How many guys out there want their girlfriend doing that? Most guys cheat today because you have these very sexually active girls hitting on guys in relationships all the time.

One need only look at their mother's. a lot of these women were poisoned from a young age about men. Their mother slept around a lot, she chose men of very poor character, so her daughter had no stable male role model in her life. Not to mention her mother was most likely always cursing these men. The end result is no guy can give these women what they need. Because I dds are she'll never choose a man of high character. And if by some miracle she did. She will bore of him quickly or drive him away.

It's just the way it is. Most of these women have no inkling of how psychological wrecked they are.

I don’t know. Things I can think of, besides possible sexual deviancy (which is extremely rare); some like to be in charge of their own lives without having to share or compromise. To have everything on their terms and their own space. Others are asexual and or aromantic, career and single mother focused. They just don’t see a need for a man. First of all, no woman chooses to be a cat mom by choice. Independent, high status women especially can't find men who rank higher than them. Since these women are usually over 30, and the "high value men" they want prioritize women in their early 20s, these independent women naturally end up single or just settling for hooking up.

Men have always had the option of making money and staying single. They realized a family provides the most happiness. Many modern women will wake up post menopause and wonder of they made the right decision. I think not. Women would die for their kids. No one would die for a sports car and jewelry. It is so obvious.

A lot of them really aren’t single by choice. It’s just the men they want, don’t want them. So they will cope by saying I’m single by choice. You know damn well if the perfect man came around they’d get in a relationship w him right away. Especially the older women on their 30s up, the men don’t want them.
