4 moWhen dating apps started out, honestly they were great. Plenty of Fish used to be the holy grail of dating apps when it first came out, offering everything for free. You could message people for free, swipe as many times as you want, filter... everything. I had a few dates from it back in the day.
As time went on, more and more dating apps came out, girls started using it to get more followers on social media, just linking their Instagram or something, saying a line like "Not on here often. Add my IG @"..."
Everything is behind a paywall, and it's extremely hard to find love because everyone is technically at your fingertips now. I think it's desensitized guys especially. Women still get a lot of attention on dating apps, so a lot of them just use it as an ego boost, to prove they're desirable. But unless you're the top 5% of men, you're not getting matches. Women are much less realistic than men when it comes to matches.
Guys are slowly walking away from the dating game. Most women just aren't worth it nowadays. Many Western women are entitled, narcissistic, misandrists, who think men only exist as fun time outs so they can get a free meal or something. Let me just clarify it's not all women who are like this. But a good number in western society are like that whether women deny it or not.
Very few men are lucky enough to end up with women who are feminine and do not compete with them, actually understand what equality is, and give them peace. Those women are the logical ones.
Do I think dating apps will die? Not any time soon, because as shit as they are, it's what society has gotten used to. They would rather start a conversation first online rather than approach or be approached.20 Reply

4 moI certainly hope so. Because as they are currently set up, they only benefit a very small portion of the people who use them. They distort peoples opinions of themselves in a very negative way. Men tend to think worse of themselves and many women can get a very unrealistic view of their value as well. And it’s all designed to keep people paying $30 or more a month and continue to be single. I really have somebody finds a better way in this new age we live in

I actually agree with this. I do hope somebody finds a better way in this new age we live in as well.

3 moThey're evolving. They won't die out. They're incredibly efficient when used properly. They suffer from vulnerabilities where they happen to amplify some of the worst aspects in humans.
Women get a lot of attention on those apps that can be pretty shallow. Your mileage may vary as to the quality and depth of content depending on your look and the appeal of your profile. Many women tend to get comfortable, and frankly, lazy with dating apps. The "burden" of choice is ever upon them, but the safety of sitting at home in their pajamas casually browsing dating apps while watching Netflix or something and not getting out there to actually date guys is a common problem from the women's end. The excuse about "safety" and the danger of meeting strangers doesn't hold much water because those same risks are present in their day to day lives, and you're still alive to open up a dating profile. I find some women tend to treat dating apps like a real time romance novel texting indefinitely but scared to never meet in person. They want the fantasy, not the real life experience. I've had this personal experience myself trying to get these selfish b****es off their a** and out into the real world to have a god damn cup of ice cream in a public place, and it's like pulling hair. It turns out, some of them were liars on their profile being dishonest about how they look or what their true personality was like. To that I say, either s*** or get off the pot.
Now, onto the guys. The guys who put out low effort profiles will swipe swipe swipe only looking for a lay. Frankly, they deserve any poor experience they get. I have no sympathy for them. They cheapen apps. Other guys will fall into this trap out of frustration because they will not be getting feedback/bites from women when they thoroughly read profiles. Don't fall for this. Perhaps you are aiming above your station and need to take a look into the mirror before thinking you're worthy of a swimsuit model, same could be said of women though they tend to not be as shallow.
The demographic distribution of there being more men than women on these apps amplifies these issues, and that's what these apps should fix. I keep saying that they should verify profiles and only take a guy for every girl. The threshold should be close to 50/50. This isn't a problem for homosexuals.
Regardless, I think they're here to stay. But we haven't seen their final iteration, and we may never see it. As the world depopulates, statistically, there will be fewer people on them as people "go outside" more, but I believe there will be trade off increasing quality for the decrease in quantity.

4 moI don’t see them dying out anytime soon because men and women have become pretty disconnected and I don’t see that improving. I’m still seeing these videos and post about men not approaching women. The, all manner creeps,, Me too,, Men don’t have the right to even speak to us rhetoric is still very common So among a lot of younger men, social media is the only place they feel it’s acceptable to speak to a woman. If this perception isn’t changed that it’s gonna push more people towards Dating apps.
10 Reply319 opinions shared on Dating topic. I don’t think so. there's so many people that use it lol. I don’t and have never used it, and I honestly think it’s better to meet someone organically and naturally… in person.
But I just don’t see it dying out because so many people do use it.
11 Reply- 4 mo
I do too especially after using them last year. It's so much better to meet someone organically. But you're probably right. They aren't dying out anytime soon because so many people do use them.
I have been on many dating apps & for me they just don’t work, I believe in going out & meeting people the ole fashion way at the grocery store, at church, at movie theatres, at Tractor Supply. Fortunately for me in my current job I get to interact with the general public often.

I definitely agree. I've been on the dating apps all last year and had some matches but they all went nowhere. So I am definitely pro getting out there and meeting people in real life.

4 moI think there will be constant flow of new people coming of age in the dating market who will have to experience dating apps for themselves. But there is also a huge library of personal experiences documenting the pitfalls and risks of online dating at this point. It may reduce the average time anyone spends wasting time on dating apps to simply verifying what tons of people have already documented. Dating apps are a shit show and a crap shoot.
10 Reply 329 opinions shared on Dating topic. I have zero experience with dating apps because college classes and college parties are excellent ways to meet people.

However, based on the foregoing chart, half of the young men are desperate to meet women and will grasp any straw including dating apps, even with zero success. Therefore, it is unlikely that dating apps will diminish.
10 Reply366 opinions shared on Dating topic. Having been married for the past 32 years, I've never used dating apps.
I don't know the first thing about them.
With my being recently widowed, that may change.
I guess maybe I can get back to you on this at a later time.
Cheers!10 Reply- 983 opinions shared on Dating topic.
m 4 moKaneki05's answer for me, I believe there's a huge demand for that and I don't see reasons to expect demand decreasing. It's the opposite, I see dating apps being on par with how individualism progresses, on par with how internet takes more and more place in our lives an schedules

4 moI think the way the world is going there is a good chance that dating apps will die out because I think it's real human contact that people crave and we are human. That feeling of connecting in person the first time you meet someone without having swiped left or right first is unbeatable. The surprise surprise effect of life.

4 moBefore dating apps there were dating services, dating game shows, match makers , etc.. There's always some portion of the population that is so depressed that they are willing to give someone money in their vulnerable state and there's always some con artist that is willing to take it off their hands.
11 Reply2.4K opinions shared on Dating topic. Don’t know of a single (pun intended) person that uses them.

Yeah I don't either. I will admit I did when I was going through my breakup and felt I needed to find someone to get over him but now that I'm better I'm going to start going out more and meeting guys irl. It's so much better.
- 4 mo
Right that's so true. If I still had that kind of access to people, I would have never even thought of going on there. But I live in a big city so I need to start using it to my advantage.
- 4 mo
Yeah there's a fair coming up that me and my bestie are going to go to in early April and then I think another event. So I am definitely going to start just going out more and who knows I may just meet someone.

u 4 moI think that happened time ago already...
aren't most people using social media for that now?16 Reply- 4 mo
I'm not sure about that. As far as I know Hinge, Tinder and Bumble are still pretty popular dating apps that people are still using.
- 4 mo
well, yes... but they are a business, and from that point of view, it could be "dying" or "died" already as a business, a lot of other businesses and apps do the same, and then are shut down overnight
at least in my reality, I do hear a whole lot more people, who have met via social media... and I can't even remember one couple or person who told me "I met them through this dating app"
Instagram for example, being a very popular one with "dating" - 4 mo
Oh ok. I suppose so.
- 4 mo
I just looked it up... and found something funny
"Gen-Z is ditching dating apps... and using Instagram and Tiktok to date"
lmfao...
but also, another search states that the dating apps are still making money in the range of billions, and so... that's definitely a profit, so maybe dating apps might lose "trendy" force but... it might still remain a sustainable profit and stay as a regular option for those who are into that...
if they are making that much money... it is obviously working well for a whole lot of people, enough people... anyway - 4 mo
That makes sense. I figured gen z would. It makes it easier to avoid catfishes that way
- 4 mo
good thing is, they're drinking a lot less... finally
because they're losing IQ points a well, so they can't afford either!!
376 opinions shared on Dating topic. Go meet someone. Go out and mingle with people. Dating app are not the way to go. For years people went out to seek romance. With Ai taking over i think some may leave the internet. We really don't need to be online anyway. Look how young people turned out.

In fact that it has been that that it was that way for decades is not the issue. The issue is that it changed from being that way for decades to what it is now which is arguably worse. That change did not happen for no reason at all. It's not going to change back to something you remember fondly because that didn't work out very well either. Truth of the matter is in this particular area, nothing works well.

Plenty of people are lonely and only find interaction online so there will always be a need for online dating.20 Reply
4 moI think eventually something better would come along. Especially, since there are so many bots and scanners on those sites. I think a good a idea would be clubs, strictly for single people to meet someone can eventually be a thing. I know some bars have a singles night every once in a while. But, it's not a permanent thing.

4 moI don't think so. A lot of things happen online, it's in people's comfort zone. Less risks. Lots of shy people who use that way to find somebody. I don't see it dying at all.
