What happens after a man chooses commitment because his girl requires it?

If I tell a man I need him to commit or I have to move on & he chooses to commit, is that a recipe for disaster because he didn’t do it on his own?

What do you mean exactly by "commit?" Do you mean agree to an exclusive long term relationship, or do you mean marriage?

Nothing wrong with wanting an exclusive LTR. I'd just tell him what kind of relationship you want and ask if he wants the same thing, but don't say "do this or I'm leaving" because even if he did want the same thing, that may make him resent you and eventually end the relationship.
If you have been together a while and one person isn't automatically exclusive after the first few dates, it shows they have bad morals and won't be loyal long term anyway and are best avoided.

More to the the point, no. A MAN will respect a woman requiring commitment. It wouldn't matter whether he did it on his own or not. I'm not saying he'll commit. But he'll decline if he's not ready to commit. He might regret it later (I speak from experience) but he will be honest when challenged. Because if a man does not have his word he has nothing.
