Attractive women are always intimidating. The question is how much so?
Great clothes bump it up. Great meaning perfect on your body, perfect for the occasion, great styling. When the clothes are obviously expensive, wealth bumps it up. Classy accessories, plus one. Well coiffed hair very intimidating. Diverging from the question a little but finger nails can make or break the classiness (and intimidation) factor.
A great smile can break down the intimidation -- if you want to be approached.

Anonymous(25-29)2 moIt’s totally normal to feel a bit intimidated by someone who looks impeccably put together! Many guys find it less about fear and more about feeling out of their depth, especially if they worry they don't match that level of effort or if they assume the person is out of their league.

2.1K opinions shared on Dating topic. Intimidated? No. I've never been intimidated by a woman.
I *have*, many times, been immediately uninterested in women who were obviously high-maintenance or fashion-obsessed. I have no interest in vain or shallow people. It's one thing to look nice, and another to spend hours getting ready to go to the grocery store or going into debt to buy some fashion-branded clothing that you won't even want to wear ever again 6 months from now. I'm not saying that's you - that's for you to decide, and I don't know you and have no reason to put you down in any way - but LOTS of men are very turned off by high-maintenance women. You can still look nice without being (or coming across as) high-maintenance. Being high-maintenance is a red flag to most men - it isn't desirable and it isn't "cute" to be that way.
Women love to imagine that men get intimidated by "well-dressed" women, but they (at least, the vast majority of them) are not intimidated - they just don't share those values AT ALL and know that dealing with a woman who has those values is going to be a constant hassle and very possibly even worse, and they can't get away from such women fast enough. Yes, there are a handful of very looks-and-status-conscious men who like such women - not denying that such men exist - but most of them are so self-centered and selfish that, even if they're attractive and desirable at first, most women won't be able to stand them because they are narcissistic, and really only want the woman to be their personal decoration to enhance their own image.
Most men I've ever met would prefer a woman in a $30 sundress and some sandals than in any high-fashion outfit, and would prefer a woman who is comfortable looking reasonably casual 360 days a year (there are always going to be a handful of "dress up" days, but those are the exception rather than the rule).

2 moIntimated? Absolutely not. If anything I appreciate a girl who dresses well (in clothing I like anyways... like beautiful summer dresses). I'm actually more likely to approach them and give them a compliment on it. Not even trying to hit on them or anything. I've done it on rare occasions.
I always appreciate a girl who puts effort into her appearance and looks classy. Not to be confused with girls who put a shit ton of makeup on and look really fake.21 Reply- 2 mo

3.2K opinions shared on Dating topic. When you find yourself 100 % you do what you do
You do what you want
And you understand no matter what. There will always be 1 person who judges you
For what you look like or don't. And to be honest it doesn't even matter because the only way they can really judge you is to know you
Because your only the person on the outside for a brief moment. The really you is on the inside and your aura your energy
And not to many people understand that01 Reply- 2 mo
So I guess I'll answer your question now LOL no I don't get intimidated I absolutely love it because I love the confidence that she carries with it when she knows exactly who she is knows exactly what she's doing and she's not doing anything she's just being herself I absolutely love that it's like you can feel it you can taste it you could be 20 ft away and you can feel it

10 Reply2.6K opinions shared on Dating topic. No, except or the fact that I don't wear suits or expensive clothing, so girls who dress really well might not think I was a good match.
I did get intimidated once, though. When I was 18 and in junior college, I took a bicycling class as a PE requisite. There was a beautiful girl who would ride alongside me and chat. One time she even made a self deprecating comment about her "skinny legs". I thought they were elegant, sexy and not skinny and I told her she didn't have skinny legs. Anyway, she was obviously interested in me.
She said she worked in the women's department of a large, local department store.
After the semester was over, I kept thinking about her. So, one dayI went there one day to find her at the store and saw her in the lingerie department.
Instead of being totally casual like she was on our bike rides, she was wearing a fashionable dress, makeup, stockings and heels. She looked like a gorgeous woman, not a teen.
I was wearing bell bottom Levis, a T-shirt, and had long, rock-star hair. I couldn't approach because I had no business in a lingerie department and would have stood out like a sore thumb, and didn't want to get in trouble.
Anyway, her appearance intimidated me and, at the time, I was afraid she was too classy for me.
I never went back and never saw her again. I was stupid to not get her phone number when I had the chance.
But again, that was when I was a teen, barely out of high school. And the girlfriends I had been with since I was 16 were more hippie culture.
The most stylish woman I ever dated was 30 when I was 36 when we met. At that point, I was well established as a motor vehicle damage field adjuster/appraiser. She was an estimator at an auto body shop I had to visit frequently.
She was 5'1", blonde and had a really cute face and figure. She had a cute hair style, perfectly manicured nails, and always wore stylish, professional-looking outfits - dresses or skirts - and heels. She looked amazing but always acted businesslike.
One day I asked her out and she accepted.
Long story short, we wound up living together for two years.
Unless we were at home, she always wore makeup, nice clothing and heels. And her hair and nails were always perfect.00 ReplyIntimidated, never. I like it when a woman - and men alike - dress well, are conscious of their presence and want to project a certain image. At the same time, don't fall into the trap of being a 'fashion victim'. You don't need the latest jacket, purse, trousers, whatever, to be in fashion. Your own 'fashion' and combination of clothes, make up and hair style are more important than following someone who wants to dictate what others think.
As for the last part of your question, yes, sometimes casual looks even better than too sophisticated.

m 2 moDepends on how you define what dressing really well is.
Generally speaking, If I cross path with a girl in a business attire or a girl looking like she's going at a fancy party then it will alter my interest, significantly. Because a lot of clichés will come to my mind and really not the best ones lol.
And even if I know that my reaction is just a tribal reflex, in practice, I will probably not try to combat this reflex. Unless I find reasons to.
10 Reply 2.2K opinions shared on Dating topic. I don't understand where this concept guys are intimidated by girls who are X where X is anything and everything.
Yes I like girls who are dressed well and if I get good vibes on other aspects I might approach. Girls with sunny approachable faces and girls with resting bitch faces can both dress well.
If a girl is dressed femininely than at least I know she likes being feminine occasionally and that is rare enough to make her approach worthy
10 Reply8.5K opinions shared on Dating topic. No, I just figure that they like to wear fashionable clothes. However I lead a pretty active lifestyle. I dated a girl who used to get really dressed up. we went into the city to see a concert and there was a snowstorm so I had to park about half a mile away. I had on my winter boots but she wore these leather dress boots. She complained the whole time that her feet hurt in these stupid boots.

2 moIt makes me more excited to talk to them. Honestly i find them to be less intimidating. Just because people who dress well correlate to an extent to people who are better conversationalists which often comes them being less shy which a lot of the time leads to them putting a little more energy into getting to know you where a lot of other women will pick up on one or two things you have in common with a guy they don't like and now you're just wasting time even talking to them.
00 Reply I don't get intimidated, but I do notice I'm more polite and courteous. I give out more "Yes, ma'am" and "No, ma'am".
Holding doors and pulling out chairs, I'm sure it was my upbringing.
Don't get me wrong, when a woman is dressed down I'm more apt to treating them more like my equal, not placing them higher than myself, when they are all dressed up.
Hope this made sense...

Anonymous(45 Plus)2 moNot unless you're talking to youngins. By their 30's guys has seen jusr about everything that's in a woman's bag. By this men are not intimidated by the way a woman dresses. But he has learned enough to know what women to AVOID, based on the way they dress.

2 mowhy is "intimidation" the first thing your mind gravitates to? what would be "scary" about it? are there no other reasons a man may not prefer it in your mind other than intimidation?

2 moNot really; I feel like dressing well is just something women do. I wouldn't expect the same standard from men, although a degree of grooming is probably preferred.
