Why do we text someone we really like instead of calling them?

If I wanted to call them, I'd text them first to make sure they were available first and text them until they were ready. Otherwise texting is more convenient if there's no rush and calling is for more time sensitive talks.

Texting is more convenient. People can't always answer phone calls depending on where they are. You're more likely to get a response from sending a text.

I'm 21 and many in my generation have grown up texting rather then talking. I may be the weird one who actually prefers to talk IRL. I like seeing the person, their eyes, any body language, and their emotions. But yes I do text also. HBU?
