I don't think a date should be about the dollar amount. And I don't think most women are gonna judge you by the price tag. A coffee date gets dissed a lot with the assumption the guy is looking for a cheap option or not investing but, sitting outside at a cafe where it's quiet and you can talk without screaming ain't so bad. If you're both into the outdoors, a hike again gives you the opportunity to talk without interference. She may appreciate a restaurant where she doesn't need to get dressed up in heels and a dress and do her makeup perfectly. Nice upscale but not a jacket and tie place.

I mean, nothing? Why does their have to be a total before it's considered OK? Why can't the bill be split for example? What's wrong with something that doesn't cost money or very little at that.

For my boyfriend we went to one of those Dave and Buster like places called Main Event. We played shuffleboard and pool. He covered the pool games (he kicked my butt) and I covered the shuffleboard games (I kicked his butt). We spent hours there. It was a good memory and barely cost him anything.

If a potential partner is concerned about how much you are spending on them, then run. It should be more about how entertaining you are and the conversation. Doesn't mean take her to McDonald's. Just be creative in what you do and have a good personality/sense of humor and you'll be fine.

1. Why should there be any expectation at all on that question?

2. How much a guy can comfortable spend on a date depends on his income. If he grossed over a million last year, he can spend more than a guy who is making $15 per hour.

If the date involves payment at all, then I'm expecting to pay for my drink, which should be between 2 and 3€. If that meeting lasts, then I'll likely take another drink, so double it. If it lasts for several hours, triple it.

I think it depends on his age (teenager vs someone older) his financial situation and where the date is. There is no reason to go overborad the first time.
