Is love at first sight real, or is it always just lust that grows?

My grandparents were two exceptionally sexy people, from their youth, into their elderly years. They looked remarkable. My granddad met my nan at a party. She was a stunningly beautiful woman, especially when she was young. In a really earthy way, big melting chocolate brown eyes and a mass of thick, wavy dark hair. The moment my granddad laid eyes on her when they were young people at a friend's party, he told one of his friends that she was the woman who was going to become his wife. Then, he made her his wife. Do you believe he experienced love at first sight, or lust at first sight? I'm not exaggerating at all about my grandparents' good looks. The rest of my family are attractive, but those two were exceptionally hot from their photos. They passed some time ago, so they won't read this.

No. Absolutely not true. There is nothing like love at first sight. That is a just a movie and fairytale concept. In reality love can never happen at the first sight. Yes, physical attraction can surely happen on the first sight but the next step will be getting to know the person (personality) and love is something that develops over time and not at the very first sight.

If you tell me that you just met someone for the first time and you are in love, my question is, "What is it that you love about this person?" Everything that you tell me with either be something about their appearance, or something that you assumed, based on their appearance. That is called lust + fantasy. Sometimes those feelings develop into something stronger, sometimes they don't.

Unless you're incredibly shallow and only care about looks, love at first sight is impossible. At most you feel strong attraction and then the person happens to be amazing and it develops into proper love. But it could also be that you crush hard on their looks and then the first time they open their mouth they just talk bullshit and you lose all interest.

Falling genuinely in love happens first of all in the mind, and is something one cannot control. Lust, which is a logic result, comes also of course, but not immediately.
