I was at the bar talking to this group of girls one of them came up to me later and asked if I liked her or her friend?

why would she do this?

I once had a girl ask me if I like somebody and when I said I never thought about it, she told me he had a girlfriend. I later learned she wanted him for herself and was trying to scare me off. Never trust indirect information. Go direct.
