Case 1. Early stage
I assumed each of us pays our part for as long as I remember. No girl ever challenged this assumption so far, since 30 years.
Case 2. Couple
Our finances are then somewhat blended together, so sometimes I pay for both, sometimes she does, if the price tag rises we probably split instinctively. Again, this has never been discussed or challenged, decisions go autopilot mode seamlessly. And again, it's always been like that, from teen years to now.
In fact I discovered that this topic was something debated, regularly, when I landed on g@g, 2 years ago. So I strongly assume there's something cultural or the people of g@g don't represent the general population lol
Whoever did the inviting should pay, but after getting to know each other don't hesitate to discuss finances and split bills or take turns.
Be prepared to pay for yourself including a ride home. Always have a way out
