basically we go to the same gym at the same time and have done for months, he then matched me on tinder and messaged me on Instagram 2 days ago. We have never spoken in person at the gym only on text but we arranged a date for today, kind of spur of the moment turns out we live within a 5 - 10 minute walk from each other. we are a similar age group and obviously a familier face from the gym. he asked if I want to come to his house as he has his own place for food and drinks. should I go or does it seem sus he’s asking me to his place?

So, I would not go to a strangers house the very first time. I would meet at a public place first and get to know them.

I wouldn't go to his place on a first date, somewhere public first. Unless you feel completely comfortable with him? You don't know him at all, so in public first to get to know him a little and how comfortable you feel around him. And for you safety. Not saying he'll do anything necessarily, but again, you don't know him yet.
