How can I get better at talking to girls without awkward silences?

I am still single and i have a hard time at dating. When i see attractive girl i want to approach the thing holding me back is that i dont know what would i say and talk about. my biggest fear is walking up to an attractive girl, ask a couple of basic questions and then the conversation stalls. I struggled with this with most of the girls i was interested in. I gotta say i had some good convos with girls though. I really want to improve this. I am not the most talkative guy overall and not really confident at this. this is the thing holding me back the most.

I would say to have some ideas or topics to talk about beforehand. Just make a mental list. If things get quiet, dig out a question or topic.

Keep them general so it will be something easy to discuss.

Stop trying to be interesting and focus on being interested in others. Genuinely curious people rarely run out of things to say because every answer someone gives contains three more potential questions.
