Is my guy friend interested in me or are these just mixed signals?

I got this guy friend I cannot read for the life of me. He is definitely interesting and has some emotional issues. He is a very closed book due to social issues. Out of our friend group I’m really the only girl I know he feels a certain degree of closeness with. There were times he would call me “honey” or “sweetie” very subtly but does to no other girl. One time he got drunk, hung on to my arm, told me I was his and that I was his girlfriend. By the next day the drink wore off and he was quiet and later I heard he was embarrassed by how much he shared. He also told me very personal stuff when he was drinking. He acted cold after for a little bit but then came around again a little bit. Another time I got tipsy, walked outside and he toted me back inside cuz he said I was walking funny. We also took a quick walk together and talked about a couple of things. Earlier in the night everyone was picking on me about my celeb crush and when it was just me and him later he asked “do u really like him?” Sometimes he asks caring and gives hints but other times he just acts distant. I can’t read him. Would a guy do any of this if he had no interest or just viewed someone as a friend? I keep getting mixed signals and I don't know what they mean.

If we were to say yes, then what would follow? Are you ready to make your own feelings known to him? Or would you just sit with that feedback and start having more questions? Because if you don’t plan on doing anything with that information, then the only response you’d have to a “yes” from us would be “well if he’s interested then why isn’t he doing or saying anything?”. And we wouldn’t have an answer for that. So ultimately, if you want clarity for real then you’ve gotta ask him, otherwise exploring this is pointless.

Solely based on the information you provided I would surmise that yes he does have; at the very least, some form of intimate interest in you.

The fact that he calls you honey or sweety alone is pretty telling. Men don't tend to do that with a friend unless they've been friends for a long time. However, I'm purely basing this off your testimony which could potentially have some bias whether it be a conscious or a subconscious bias.

Your best bet; if you're keen on forming a more intimate relationship, is to talk to him about it over a coffee. Just ask him how he feels about you.
