I don't know I remember I was outside by the library and I just got done with a phone call. A random guy asked me for directions and I told him. And he looked a bit tense so I smiled to make it seem less awkward. And then he said actually he knew where the building is and he thought I was beautiful so asking for directions was just a way to talk to me. Do you think it was completely a pick up line like he said that 10 girls already that he noticed happened to be alone or did he slightly mean it? Never even been complimented on my appearance by like anyone other than my parents. I don't know why but right after he said that he stopped making eye contact and was looking at my face like he was scanning it. And then he moved to the side to look at my side profile. I found it very awkward ofc and then he asked for my number. Was he trying to confirm what he said was at least believable or was he trying to check if I pass his standards or was he checking me out but I have a shit side profile. I don't know I usually never get attention like no guy is ever excited to see me or talk to me. I remember in the past, another guy approached me and I thought he just wanted to be friends but later he asked what are we. I kinda shot it down and he admitted he was just lonely. He was sometimes cold or sometimes excited. I guess maybe he was just more interested in the idea of love and never really liked me at all and just settled. I don't know we had diff political views and I didn’t like that he sometimes seemed a bit detached so I wasn’t interested. I notice other girls and guys are extremely interested in them like they take every chance to talk to them or be near them. I know it’s technically hard for those girls esp when getting unwanted attention. But I don't know I’m just envious that they’re liked more. I don't know why I care.

Was this guy genuinely interested in me or just using a pickup line?

I don't know it’s just depressing like I see online men always seem to talk about looks and I just saw a post about a guy bashing older men like I don't know I lowkey feel everything seems to be about looks out there. Like sure personality matters but looks is considered much important and being nice is like what they mean by personality. And everywhere in media were always shown goodlooking people so it makes me feel sad bc I don’t have a very feminine face

Oops it autocorrected to men. I meant older women. I mean like the idea of looks and youth is always valued too much in women. Ik I sound hypocritical bc earlier I was asking whether a guy actually thought I was attractive. I don't know it’s just like a mix of things in my head that I’m a bit down about ig

It6 sounds like a innovative way t start a convo.. sure it could also be a pickup line. Did he seem friendly? Is he around your age? If you are single maybe arrange to meet him somewhere in a very public place for something simple like a cup of coffee. If you go anywhere with him let a friend know where you are going and when you will return.
ik it’s not an innovative way. I did say I wasn’t interested. But I don't know I just got the feeling with the way he was looking at me that he was scrutinizing me and checking if I’m not too ugly. I know of course he didn’t know me so ofc it would be based on looks. But it sucks that men mostly only care about looks like their goal is get the hottest woman they can get that is also nice and yea sure he asked for my number but it was like he was only playing a numbers game like probably asking as many women alone until he could get a girlfriend.
Good point on him playing a numbers game. You must have been good looking enough however to qualify! I agree that a date/attraction is way more then physical appearance. It is the persons personality, character and honesty that also count don't you think?
No one cares all that much about it tho. And it’s still not a fair game. Goodlooking people at least grow up being included and so it’s natural that they become confident and extroverted and get more time to practice their social skills. People who grow up being excluded didn’t have enough opportunities to practice how to talk or interact so being serious/awkward or having social anxiety can happen.
It didn't seem personalized, so he probably just thought you were attactive. The other guy sounded reserved and shy.
