Why do people say its so amazing to be single?

When no one cares about you, nobody loves you, nobody has your back. You can claim you have "friends". But no friendship will ever make up for a wife or a husband. No temporary relationship will ever replace a cemented family relationship between husband and wife. No nice or nephew will love and care about you the same way your own children would.

I think this is about how you define yourself...

if you're define yourself only or mostly by your status and the status of others, then yeah... you will struggle a whole lot with being single

but when you define yourself as your own person, then this is not much of a bother

the rest of what you said is highly subjective though... because care, love and support can come and be there in so many ways other than a partner, now friends and family were NEVER MEANT TO REPLACE a partner, so no... those never replace your partner, but also they are not even trying to do that

and about your children and husband/wife being the best thing ever? ideally, yes...

but some times, many times actually... they become a nightmare in your life, lol

Because no one will help you when you need help? Your parents will die off at some point. Soon, your only "family" will be that brother you haven't seen in years who lives 1000 miles away in another state

What kind of friend will pay your bills because you broke your leg and can't work?

as I said... everyone has different experiences

I can count with both hands... the amount of friends who are NOT MY CLOSE friends, and could help me tremendously, with just one phone call... whether because I grew up with them during our childhoods, we went to school together, or they are friends to my family or close friends of mine

and I do mean help, HELP...

sure, people die... husbands/wives and children die too, they're not immortal... so that doesn't change anything really

my brother already lives that far in another state... and I've seen him four times already this year and it's not even the Holidays yet.. lol

not that I would depend on others to pay my bills... nor that I would not be able to work without a leg, but if it needed be... there would be tons of friends and family would be able to help me out with that

yes, love is important... but love is not limited to only the person you marry... that's my point

Talking about ultra rare exceptions to the rule dont make you correct. Sure maybe 1 to 2% of population would be a friend may pay your bills... but what are the chances you will be able to find someone like that? These types barely exist

I actually grew up in two different places, most of the time... the one I described to you, is the one I am currently in most of the time

there's also truth to the other side... as in the other place, I could probably die one day... and it could take days, or weeks or months... before people around find out, lol

Because most most people in relationships partners really do not care about them. Doesn't love them, doesn't have their back. No friendship will make up for wife or a husband tol they walk out on you after a couple decades of marraige because they need to find themselves. And just because you have kids, care for them, and love them with every fiber of your bei g does NOT mean they will love you back.

Love is ALWAYS a gamble, especially in this day and age. And remaining single is just easier and more predictable.
