Why my crush gave me a dating advice?

I talked with him randomly and he told me what I should look for a guy. He told me to not date a player , go with average guy and. Etc.,

He told me that he will find girlfriend( same nationality with him).

Before that , I feel like he like me. I knew him for many years. Does this mean he see me as a friend?

I feel like you didn't tell him that you like him? IF so, then why are you surprised? OF course he looks at you like a friend or having a normal conversation with someone who is a friend of his.
