As everyone in high school needs to think about it at some point, I gained experience this summer. Thinking about a Major and what you want to do after high school.
STARTING OUT
I started thinking about these things in middle school because I play in softball tournaments that colleges will come watch me play, so I had to think about all this early. Of course everyone will change their mind a few times (as I did) wanting to be in Culinary Arts, Athletic Training, Fashion Design, and now here.. Communications and Marketing in the fashion industry.
I've always had a love for fashion and I couldn't find the right major that was exactly what I wanted, because I thought "Would I really end up being the next Marc Jacobs?" Probably not. So I found a program through Parsons and Teen Vogue where I could take courses through all parts of the fashion industry and see which one fit me best. So going through all the videos, reading, and assignments I sorta had an idea.
MY BLOG
For one of the starting assignments we had to make our own website so we could later make posts about our projects we did. I loved it. I loved it so much I made a separate Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook,(aside from my website) that I could post to about fashion. I have done so much research about different fashion designers, jobs, and trending style to write about. I like to be up to date on everything that is happening in the fashion world so when I find things out I start to blog about it!
ASSIGNMENTS
For assignments I had to do photo shoots, make clothing, track visitors from my website and create a portfolio. Since most of my assignments had to be shared on social media along with an explanation, I've been lucky enough to meet so many helpful people. By seeing my work a few people would explain some things they do in their job since they have a career in what I hope to land a career in, also people who would take me under their wing and show me somethings as well as let me create things for them.

EXPERIENCE
Along the way through all this fashion I became an ambassador for a charity company called the elephant pants, this was a good way for me to get some experience through advertising and marketing. I was able to promote the company through my website and social media platforms and gain them over $4,000 in one month, by promoting their items to my followers. I like being able to do something I really enjoy and know it is going to a good cause.
FUTURE
I've gained a good amount of experience this summer through taking courses with Parsons and Teen Vogue, becoming an ambassador, and doing work on my own time. I'm really excited for what the future has in store for me, and honestly I can't wait to go to college to learn more (Unlike most Juniors in HS). I love being able to blog, or make posts about something I am passionate about, for me it makes life a little more exciting. And who doesn't love being fashionable!
