The IQ is only the expression of one type of inteligence, there are several types, like the emotional inteligence, among others. Somone can have a very high IQ and still have a low emotional inteligence.
Today a girl came up to me, saying she had to walk 4 hours to her uncle's who fell down the stairs and couldn't pick her up etc, and had no money to get there needing £8, I gave her money to buy food (because she was skint "apparently"... even though her breath was smelling of cigarettes and alcohol). I felt sympathy but at the same time just couldn't give a fuck and didn't want to help, knowing she's most probably bullshitting, but also I had no time for it.
3 and 4 are tough ones! I made the extra effort to overcome them... by using that same intelligence in both areas and used it to develop my emotional intelligence and mental stability since they were still priorities for me.

The part about never having to put effort into anything until uni and then being extremely frustrated and sad when having to actually put some time and hard work into studying is so real

Lol looking at a bunch of the comments.
I guess the guys on this site have massive dicks bigger than 90% of men AND are all geniuses/borderline geniuses.
I am smart. Can I suffer from depression because of it? Or should I use it to keep my brain in good shape? I think smart people can have smart choices.
I wasn't saying that being smart causes it, but there is a correlation between intelligence and depression. As I said before, I don't think that everything I said applies to everyone. I'm sure there are some really smart people who have made the right choices and are perfectly happy :)
As a young boy I was not very smart only because i didn't want to study much but i learned many things through hard work and patience. Secondly I was very emotional as a child. Now I am smart. So my heart-brain connection is balanced. Third , I am more outgoing and socially connected , so chances of going into depressive tendencies is lessened. Fourth , people don't dare to say wrong things to make me cringe. Five , people don't expect me to excel in everything , because they know my strong and weak points and I don't project myself as a jack of all trades. As a Management student , i am aware of all important things like determination , discipline , Confidence , control , planning , visualization , goal setting , patience , resourcefulness , etc. On top f it all , I know how to put my intelligence to most beneficial use under given circumstances. So I think , my smartness is to my benefit and I should not worry about any negative consequences.
2,3 and 5 definitely effect me but number one was the worst in school because I exelled at math and science but really struggled with English and writing skills and now one could find out why but it turns out at around 6 year old I had damaged part of my brain with a sever concussion
1 and especially 2 and 3 are like meant to be for me. I can actually see me while reading those lines. Very good article there girl.

Here comes a bunch of people think they are that smart and find this post relatable. I'm sure someone will say this can apply to me, whatever, fell free to challenge me.
Holy crap... Judging by the comments on this Take, it's kind of crazy & painful how so many members of this website genuinely think that they are actually intelligent.

The amount of people on this site that consider themselves very intelligent or even of genius level is off the chart and definitely against all odds. Nice take though.
I have no idea if this is related to intelligence but, I've never been able to talk to people my own age and younger except when I got older. i would go to a birthday party and talk to the parents... I suck

There's a lot of druggies down here that do that, don't fall for it next time
@WhereIsMyMind oh trust me, I've met a lot... I just gave her £2 but that's it, she stsrted to guilt trip me and act all innocent, I wasn't having it.

What are the odds...
Nice take. Bill gates and Steve Jobs were both college drop-outs.
Being wickedly charming (or even manipulative) and hiding your intelligence is the recipe for success at life.
Another disadvantage... s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/.../...577aa940ac.jpg
I disagree
100% spot on. it takes a genius do detect another.
To me everything except 4 applies.
One of the worst disadvantages are also having to deal with stupid people. They are aplenty.
I find that it's impossible to get into a debate where the other person acts (or thinks) like an adult.

this makes me wish i was dumb intellectually and not socially
6. Dumber people start envying you and later envy turns into hate.
you'll have to learn to associate with underachievers without letting them feel they're underachievers.
