Having a college degree makes you smarter. Having a degree means you know more about what you studied about not everything else.
Just school & colleges can't make anyone more intelligent. Being intelligent means being efficient at using what you know or being able to handle tough situations and having the ability to make the best decisions. But I disagree with something here. You can make a less intelligent person more intelligent. Everyone learns and gets better with experience in life
This may not even answer the question but it's a small rant.
Here is the word of the day: interpretation
As a disclaimer for all the different sanctified folks that are in attendance I am going to use The Good Book better known as The Holy Bible as an example. It's just and example. I am not trying to cause a G@G religious meltdown.
The Bible (King James) is written one way, but interpreted how many different ways by each respected denomination. If I am wrong please by all means tell me. Does it make one more right or wrong because of how its interpretated? No!
Over theast couple weeks I've notice the tension and the back and forth of who is right and who is wrong. Instead of antogonizing one another have some dialog about your interpretation of the question (s) and answer (s) that are causing lines to be drawn and the back and forth let's save all that for the Anons. Besides I'm putting a limit on how many people I lay into on here. Shit gets exhausting.
There's more than one user I've seen say, do this though... And my mom's sister get whole life acted like she was better than my mom and treated my mom like she was stupid cuz she went to college and my mom didn't... This wasn't about one person, cuz there's lots of people that do that both on here and IRL
I know and understand. There is no reason college or not to be condescending to anyone. (Don't get me wrong some folks are not the sharpest knife in the drawer and well it can be amusing) if someone doesn't know what another person may know doesn't mean they are dumb. The smartest person I know didn't go to college and I have 2 Harvard graduates in the family. Believe me they ain't too sharp either.
The main purpose I believe of this forum is to seek and gain information, answers to legit questions (not my silly sarcastic shit) at the same time being social. No we will not all get along. But we don't have to cut each other's throats either. Speaking of the population no one in particular.
Let's continue to seek out new life and new worlds and boldly go... oh my bad went all Shatner for a second. Just have fun. Basically.
Where was this rant on the post that was clearly about me, instead of a post that was directed at anyone that does this🤷 but as much as people think I'm trying to argue, I'm not... But I will stand up for myself when sometime truss to attack me or insult my intelligence... But yeah I'm not on here for the nonsense.. Although there's lots of it on here
I wasn't directing anything towards you love. It just so happened that your question reminded me of the my take I was going to do. Kinda just did. I was speaking generally. My apologies for confusion.
Well said. The elitism of the intellectuals has grown into a cancer in higher education. It seems like there's an inverse proportion to the decline in quality of college degrees and an increase in arrogance for those who take them
Yes and those overeducated people have a sheepskin that this day is is not worth the shit it is stamped out of but they are hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt most of the large company s and banks will not even hire them because they know only how to protest riot and think the majority of people are stupid because we did not go to college. I did not have a large loan to payoff. I have made many millions of dollars in my life and I am retired living the good life because I worked and learned from O. J. T. and reading everything I could about my craft.
I don't know about that but your availability to perform in school doesn't always determine your intelligence, I mean, I have pretty average grades but when I comes to computers and tech stuff, I'm a beast
Absolutely. College is great and all but people can get by well in life without it too. A college is gonna do no good if a person doesn't know how to utilise it.
Graduating from college does not mean that you are smarter than those who didn't. It does mean that you can apply yourself for three or for years and meet a deadline. Of course, some colleges are better than others. Some people can conduct high-level research without ever having a college degree. Strangely enough, many students go to college because they love learning and don't give much thought to what they will do after they graduate.
Totally agree with you, getting a college degree isn't the only parameter to know about a person's intelligence but education is important for everyone.
Having superiority complex just becoz a person is educated isn't good at all
Well that you have all these apps and YouTube videos and now this virus situation nowadays colleges are on the ropes they have to prove they're still relevant they haven't been in decades you don't see Einstein's coming out of the school system you see fleabag and scumbag coming out I mean look at this loser in the picture
I've met people that didn't get a college degree but are really smart and people that did get a college degree but aren't really smart. I think it just depends
Some of the most creative and intelligent people I know didn’t go to college. The most intelligent person I know DID go to college and sadly he is going through dementia right now (not that that is related). I apologize for not reading the whole thing. My brain is fried. But based on your title, I’m in agreement.
@Hallo626262 perhaps you should understand what cognitive bias is before commenting. In all honestly I don’t look down on anyone until they open their mouth and show how stupid they are. Of course having a degree is in no way a sign of intelligence. It’s like when people say they couldn’t have committed a crime because they are godly. One thing has nothing to do with the other.
This wasn't about the intelligence of people who went to college, more the ones that didn't... College is pushed now more than it used to be... There were more people that learned on the job... There's many reasons people didn't/couldn't attend college. But that doesn't mean they still didn't learn anything or have knowledge.. That was the point I was making her
@Brainsbeforebeauty college is more than just knowledge and learning facts. In high school you learn some of the basics. In junior college you learn more in-depth knowledge and at the university level you not only learn but also apply the knowledge and interpret it and understand it. You can learn everything from college through other means but understanding it and applying it to the world we live in doesn’t happen unless you expand your mind and become open to other ideas. So many MAGA people are very smart but they only spew out thoughts that are from other people’s heads. What it means and what the consequences of what they regurgitate is beyond them. It’s not what you know, it’s what you do with knowledge.

I'm ranting today. Fyi

And I will not fault anyone for standing up for themselves that's what you should do if you feel or are being attacked...

I don’t judge a person’s smarts based on a degree. You have to talk to people and get to know them to truly understand them.
Exactly!!
People like every excuse to feel superior to their fellow man.
And I always feel like it's important to note that overeducated morons exist.
,👍🤣

@darkcloud1945 That's awesomeđź‘Ťđź‘Ť
I don't know about that but your availability to perform in school doesn't always determine your intelligence, I mean, I have pretty average grades but when I comes to computers and tech stuff, I'm a beast
Exactly! The school system said Einstein wasn't smart didn't they
Same but unfortunately for me, I also suck at math.🤷🏻‍♂️
I suck at math too
I'm not the greatest at math either lol
I went to university here in the UK... Well I had to. I use to deliver pizza there 3 times a week. :D
🤣🤣🤣
Absolutely. College is great and all but people can get by well in life without it too.
A college is gonna do no good if a person doesn't know how to utilise it.
Very true...
48% of college grads never use their degree
in 1960 15% of college grads got As in a class. today 45% of college students got an A in a class
they aren't getting smarter, nor are they smarter than the average. its just that they were groomed by their parents to think they are special

They aren’t, they’ve just been indoctrinated and brainwashed with useless liberal/ socialist bull shit.
Right!!!
because if they wasted that much time and money for a degree they have to convince themselves that it was all for something in the end 😂
Ha so true lolol
I just wanna make things clear. You don't have to be smart to be rich 😁
Lolol that's true these days🤣
I've met people that didn't get a college degree but are really smart and people that did get a college degree but aren't really smart. I think it just depends
Exactly!!
Because they spent big money and have a piece of paper called a diploma to hand on their wall!
A lot seem to lack common sense
Yeah too bad they can't teach that in college
Wouldn’t need as many courses if common sense was applied to all.
Ha right!
Some of the most creative and intelligent people I know didn’t go to college. The most intelligent person I know DID go to college and sadly he is going through dementia right now (not that that is related).
I apologize for not reading the whole thing. My brain is fried. But based on your title, I’m in agreement.
Actually that’s not true. Look up a concept called “cognitive bias”. Very interesting stuff.
đź‘Ťđź‘Ť
What's not true? You think that there are no people who look down on others who don't have a degree?
Maybe you don't talk to people much?
@Hallo626262 perhaps you should understand what cognitive bias is before commenting. In all honestly I don’t look down on anyone until they open their mouth and show how stupid they are. @Brainsbeforebeauty you don't make any sense.
@Hallo626262 How don't I make sense? Or do you just have low comprehension skills🤷
I don't think a college graduate is smarter but I do think it shows he/she is determined to endure four, six or eight grueling years.
It is not always grueling. Just the all nighters followed by an exam.
