Well one time I went to work so sick that I woke up and got so dizzy I literally FELL back into my bed, passed out, managed to then crawl out of bed stumbled to work (I mean stumble, I couldn't stand straight let alone walk), got cussed out for being late and in mid cuss out they stopped to ask what is wrong as I had to grab a table to try and catch myself from falling at which point they told me to go prep everything and then I could go home (I worked in a restraunt by the way and yes, this is normal for restraunts don't be delusional in thinking they send sick people home (they didn't even let a sick guy stay home during covid. Do you know what vomit looks like shooting out of a face mask? I do. I do.)). So after a few hours of trying not to cut off fingres while swaying back and forth and seeing double (no easy feat) I was led to a table and written up for being late while nearly falling out of the chair, then I went home and slept for 30 plus hours straight, woke up and went to the bathroom, ate some food, then after about being up for two hours, passed out for another 14.
The lessoned I learned is. . . don't ever fucking come in to work sick, you will be miserable and they will treat you like shit because you are a robot in their eyes and your not allowed to be sick, but if you call in thanks to employee manual guarentees you do get to call in sick without them ever being able to do anything to you (So long as you follow the rules in the manual).
--------Stayed up with a buddy of mine until 4 am drinking and carrying on. My flight left at 530 am. Didn't get any sleep and had a layover in chicago for 4 hours before flying to my final destination. No where to sleep in the airport. Was nauseous the entire time. Didn't get to my hotel room until 7pm which then I had a work dinner to attend. You can say I never did anything that foolish again. Big learning lesson. Don't drink the day before a travel day.

Like the hangover quote 🤣
Well thank you I got it from google. LOL
🤣🤣👍
After staying awake nearly 72 hours straight working with disaster relief teams to aid calamity victims in typhoon-stricken Philippines, my body started to weaken alarmingly due to extreme fatigue. Though I didn't collapse, I felt like I nearly did. My boyfriend then (husband now) rushed me back to base camp which, unfortunately, wasn't nearby and being continuously battered by the passing super typhoon. He was also dead tired & fatigued. We found shelter in a tent already filled with suffering victims.
Just when we finally started to fall into much-needed deep sleep, our tent was ripped by the strong winds and blown away. With whatever little re-charge we got from our nap & food rations, we immediately went back to work aiding the victims that were also sharing our tent.
It took another 10 hours before we were relieved by another team of volunteers.
WOW!!!
Those people were lucky to have had your help
Thank you @Brainsbeforebeauty. <3 We're glad to be a "link in a chain" of big-hearted volunteers.
That's awesome💛💛👍
I have epilepsy and I had a seizure while I was up getting ready for work. I woke up in my bed confused how I got in my bed and was wearing my work clothes ready for work. Realized I had a seizure and went to work that day. That day was so awful and felt like crap the entire day at work. Couldn't keep my eyes open, so sleepy, my head was so foggy, my head hurt like hell, and that day I did not remember anything at work. When you have a seizure all you want to do is sleep and when I got out of work that's what I did for the rest of the day when I got home.
Commendable you still went in💛

When I was a Middle School and Senior High School. I was on a diet that I ate just a little bit of food plus I would exercise and that was the worst thing I could ever do
I developed low blood sugar / I had to eat more food to bring my sugar up/ I loss over 100 lbs but as these symptoms went on, after graduation, I slowly gained it all back then I developed mental health illnesses at age 21, by the time I reached my 30's I was weighing over 300 lbs, then I was diagnosed with Low T, Diabetes, High Blood pressure, and Sinus Tachycardia but since all of that I once again lost 100 lbs again and now I want to reach 60 lbs to reach my goal.. Life was a battle with parents arguments., my dad and his drinking, bullies from School
You'll get there🙏
@Brainsbeforebeauty Thank you 🙏👼
About 12 years ago I got hit with a flu virus that rendered me bedridden for nearly a week. But I tried to work on that first day and I made through half a shift and then I was done. I didn't leave voluntarily though. My boss ordered me to go home and come back when I felt better. I tried to argue, but she was firm. I must have looked like shit. Sure felt like it. The shakes, the vomiting, the aches were more intense than any flu I ever had. It's the sickest I've ever been. I lost over 10 pounds. It took me over a week after I felt better to regain all of my energy.
Glad you're better now😊
Thanks dear.
🤗🤗
Last trip to Afghanistan, working in the ops center. There were weeks that we had multiple teams running missions. I'd go two days up, 6-7 hours sleep and two days up and 6-7 hours sleep. I'd do that 3 or 3 times, sleep normal for a day then go back to that.
That's when the ticking in my ears started. It's a form of tinnitus but it's not ringing, it's ticking. Like the sound of the Aswang.
I've also got a sleep disorder that started after that trip. I need Ritalin to stay awake if I'm ever sitting and doing paperwork. If I'm on my feet All day I'm fine.
I don't have trouble sleeping at night, unlike many of the guys I worked with.
Well that's good cuz insomnia really sucks and if gets bad enough can take a toll on your physical and mental health
I had my nose done a week before I started a new job in IT programming. I recently had my stitches removed (around each nostril), and I couldn’t touch or clean the area so I had black crust outlining my entire nose and inside my nostrils... just filled with black and red crusted blood in chunks and scabs. First week at my new job and I had to take my ID photo and go out to lunch and meet my new team. I looked disgusting lmao
Aww man that sucks
Well in my situation since I'm still in high school but here we go. I had a midterms week and I didn't study for my biology midterm so my body panicked. I was vomiting, had a migraine, had dizziness and my body refused to work. So the midterm started I took a shower, took medicine, took a lot of sips of an electrolyte drink. It was late 7 minutes because an idiot decided it was a good idea to fucking drive into me and the driver took the head of the window and yelled “fuck you bitch ass niggah!!!” and I panicked because the driver was fucking driving into me! I went in and I had a panic attack. I took meds later it was ok, I did the midterm I scored a 96%. But it was just terrifying and miserable I wished like 37 times that I was dead.
Congrats on the 96%👍👍
Well, besides the obvious times I went in with what felt like a Category V hangover and a full-body sprain, I have gone to work heavily concussed after a car accident and also went back to work on a Monday following surgery on Friday (usual recuperation time 30 days).
You're a trooper
I worked for a great company for 30 years. I had lots of paid sick leave. So I tended to call in sick when I wasn't feeling well.
I did have a kidney stone once. It went on for quite a while. It was very painful to the point of sometimes being nauseous, but didn't incapacitate me so I had to work. It finally passed.
I've heard those can be very painful to pass
Jagged, grain of sand like thing gets stuck in your ureter, between your kidney and bladder. The ureter has a very small diameter. The pain is like a sharp stick being poked from the inside of your right or left lower front abdomen. Like a very sharp, steady, localized, almost burning cramp. At times it's worse than others until it finally passes. Once it works its way to your bladder, you're fine.
For me I think it was when I was a triangle you know how hard it is to get into a car being a triangle. Yeah I'm hard it was to walk so I started eating a lot but then I became a square for a few days I couldn't fit through the fucking door of my house I kept hitting the door frame every time I would try to leave or come back home so I started eating more Donuts no I'm round now I can just roll around any place I want to go. I don't even have to use the car anymore
🤣🤣🤣
Well then don't get bent out of shape 😊🤣
Went out on new years eve, I'm in a different city.
I'm supposed to be off and not in call.
I get called in because of a network outage. I was a wan engineer for a major Telco interchange between several networks (sprint, at&t, PAC bell, bell south etc)
I've got most of a fifth of vodka in me. I have to take a taxi ($250 ride lol) I come in , hardly able to stand but I got the network up and running, passed out on an old as400 system because it was warm in the cold room.
Hero
That must of sucked.. And damn that was expensive cab ride holy shit
I turned my ankle on a slippery storm grate. I could feel it pop so I knew it was bad. I still had to go to work because I had no sick time. I spent the whole day on my feet. I kept a pair of high top sneakers in my office so I didn;'t have to wear boots all day. By the end of the day it was so swollen I couldn't get my boot back on. When I got home my wife took my socks off and looked at it. It was all purple, even my toes were purple. I had it x-rayed but fortunately it was just a bad sprain.
Thats a lot of pain to deal with
Hear you.. My foot swollen so bad could barely get my shoe on.. Puked 4 times this morning.. just made the 40 min drive to work, haven't gone in yet, hope I make it through the day
Thanks.. Is it 5 yet🤢
Puking and pain on top of it. Now thats bad. I feel sorry for you
@humanearth Thanks🤗🤗 survived the 40 min drive... Now if can make it to 5 and the 40 min drive home🤷
This was earlier this year I've found out my husband cheated on me and have been trying to cheat on me with several other women and I also found out he had a porn addiction and had seen way too much porn and I was fucked in the head I slapped a smile onto my face and went to work
Sorry you went through that💛
Years ago : With 1 hour sleep, hangover, broken heart because my ex broke up with me, and periods all within 24 hours.. worse day ever and when I got home i found my new dress that i had to wear the next day for my best friends wedding ripped and ruined completely because i forgot it hanging in my room and my cats used it as a scratch tower... ...
I had all gods against me that day
- sight -
That does sound like a horrible day..
The night my husband passed away sickness flooded me. The next day I had papers to sign, viewed his body, more waves of sickness, luckily the deacon of the church was very helpful. An evening & day I never want to experience again 😞💔🥀
I know how hard it was/is but you've shown your strength 🙏💛
So have you & thank you, you're truly an inspiration 🥀💕
Nah but thanks💛🙏
It's hard to say! I try really hard not to miss work if I don't absolutely have to. I've been to work feeling like shit several times. The worst has probably been when I've been injured or pulled something pretty badly, though.
Yeah I was sick as shit this morning but still came in
I hope you feel better soon!
Thanks💛
No problem! :)
I was 19. Went out drinking the night before and woke up hungover. I didn't have anything to eat before I went to work and was super dehydrated throughout the day. I honestly thought I was gonna throw up. Keep in mind that I stocked shelves for my job and was always on my feet moving stuff, so not eating and being dehydrated just destroyed me. I was so weak and barely made it though the day. Didn't do that again.
I'm sure that sucked and the day dragged
I can imagine
I got super sick a few years back. I was baby sitting a kid whose mother said had a little cold. Well, two days later I ran 103, got strep and then Epstein barr. And that lasted a month (though no longer contiguous) I still was subbing for dance instructors then... probably why it took me so long to recover.
I mean contagious not contiguous lol
And by the way I only mean the Epstein-Barr lasted a month. Not the fever and strep.
That must of sucked
I had pneumonia, but I had No idea. It had been going around work and I could not figure out why I could not breath. I have also had it where I had a seizure the day before and could barely move and still worked
That must of been bad
Both were bad. The pneumonia I ended in the E. R and that’s how I found out. My mother had to drag me in there. The seizure it is life. The consequence of having them and I will not do the surgery
I went to work feeling miserable and later found out that I had strep-throat and a double ear infection.
I’ve been at work during horrible periods and also totally lacking sleep.
Not fun is it☹️
Not at all. Are you feeling okay?
Not really.. Foot swollen.. Puked 4 times this morning... But made the 40 min drive to work.. Hopefully I make it till 5🤢 well and the 40 min drive back home
Oh no!! Not possible to stay home on a day where you’re feeling like that? Sprite is good for settling a stomach if you sip it.
Nah had to come in 3 1/4 more hours to go
I had a thick pipe fall off the rafters in a barn. It hit me in the head and gave me a concussion. I was throwing up, had a severe headache and blurry vision. I still finished out the day.
Another time I was using a rachet hole punch to make a hole in a metal panel. I was using my chest as leverage against the panel. I ended up breaking 3 ribs. It hurt to breathe, laugh, twist, sneeze and cough. I wrapped duct tape around my chest so I can finish the job.
Oh ouch.. Sounds very painful... And know all about concussions, had two and the second was very severe
I’ve left the ER and reported to work after IV pain killers. I’ve had extreme vomiting and dysentery and ran several times from the job site. I’ve walked off the job and into the ER For a multiple day stay with a life threatening heart condition only cause I was almost blacking out. I’ve been afflicted with mind blowing kidney stone pain for months and came to work... I’ve gone days without sleep and been hallucinating at work... I don’t know which is the worst to be honest...
I was traveling once and had to give presentations after getting so sick I was deaf for 3 days 😂 high fever and friggin deaf lmao
No questions please 😂
Aww man..
@Brainsbeforebeauty your questions are ok, my comment was for my audience the day I was deaf
Oh okay lol
It was definitely in my early 20's when going out with friends and drinking all night then going to work hung over. I remember one night in particular when we played some stupid drinking game and I tried to leave at about midnight and got talked in to "one more game". It's never one more game and I felt like absolute dog sh! t the next day. Drink a dozen beers, a dozen shots and sleep for about an hour before heading off to work. 🤢
Been there done that lol
I worked at a call centre and had to put a client on hold while I threw up, then the next caller I actually passed out.
20 minutes later I was back on the lines. 20 minutes after that I was sent home for passing out again.
What did it turn out to be?
Yeah I thought had bad Chinese yesterday cuz I puked all morning.. Still went in... I was pouring sweat all day... Least made it through the day
I went to work one day, and the next day was in Emergency at Hoag Hospital. I had contracted C-dificile, probably at the gym. Was hospitalized for 45 days. If you know what C-dificile is you know how sick I was
No, what is that?
Intestinal infection, usually brought on by taking a lot of antibiotics, that kills the 'good' bacteria in the intestine. You develop diarrhea and they can't stop it. Brother (a nurse) said I probably got it at 24 Hour fitness, from handling equipment of someone infected. He said persons can be 'carriers' and don't know they have it. Terrible illness, and thought I was going to die. Brother flew here (CA) to try to help. Of course, when you get 'sick' at work, you have no idea exactly what is wrong, and you just go on as much as you can. Never will forget that 'sick day"
I imagine you won't
LOL! Nobody will ever know!!
A "Secret" remedy, and in a half hour, even half-assing it, I am 200% beyond most of the others in my group!
Nobody is going to know, because I am not that whiner, that takes a "sick day" because they might be hung over, after St. Patrick's Day, or whatever!
Not work, but school. I was in second grade and had such a high fever that I had extreme vertigo. It felt like the classroom was moving in waves and that I was going up and down. I ended up projectile vomiting due to the nausea.
Hopefully that didn't start a chain reaction🤮
I was still drunk from the night before and smelled like it to
I forced myself to go, because back then I was short on rent again. So what did I do, went drinking. My mind set in my 20s was not always the brighest.
Had a flu and didn't want to miss the 1st day of a new job. Took 2 weeks to recover because I wasn't getting rest. Normally it would've only taken 1 week.
Yeah I hear yah
Up 72 hours binge writing and noticed the sun rise and realized I'd worked all night and decided to go to bed and then realized it wasn't Saturday morning but Monday morning.
Aww man, bet you were exhausted
Lets just say Dr. Pepper stock went up that day.
Lolol
Migraine while having my period.
and kinda hung over as well.
That must of sucked
No sleep and sick to the point I couldn't stop sneezing or coughing. And it was painful to eat, drink and even breathe. I'm amazed they let me work that day.
Bet that was a long day
Too long
I feel yah.. That's how I felt today.. But actually it really did go pretty fast cuz we were really busy or I was anyways lol
I am not sure the statute of limitations are up yet, hence I cannot say. I can say I can function rather well in some very altered realities. Nobody ever caught on to the fact I was off. It may just be nobody pays attention to me.
I was sick as shit this morning, puked four times, foot swollen, but still came in... It's it 5 yet☹️
Sounds like you had a hell of an evening. Did you know the name of the dude who you woke up next to?
I finished my last two years of high school while recoving from liver failure. I missed 40% of my classes but managed to pass everything and graduate with the rest of my class
Very impressive👍💛
Prior to getting on the pill, I used to have a day of pain on my first day of period. Pretty much blacked out a couple times due to heat and pain.
Aww man
In the restaurant, really nothing because of food hygiene laws
In my own self-employment, I've been in a hospital bed hooked to a heart monitor and still checking eBay for deals and rebooking appointments with clients over email
That's dedication
Went to work on an hour of sleep and worked a 10 hour shift (I was a manager at the time). After work I literally fell asleep while driving but got extremely lucky that I snapped out of it, and was able to hit the breaks in time.
Oh yeah, so glad you were able to🙏
I mistook a food poisoning (Hepatitis) for a flu.
Only when I went next to unconscious, a colleague thought it wise to get me a doctor.
I plan to not repeat this.
Good thing they did
Indeed. A funny detail: the guy who 'saved my life' was one of these unwelcome immigrant workers :D
Broke up with my ex and had to face work. I was devastated and everyone knew at work which made it worse. My co workers were toxic and talked about my business all the time
Yeah toxic coworkers the worst
I am SO brave. One occasion I went to work even after sneezing.. not once but TWICE!!! :D
🤣🤣🤣
I went with a severe migraine a few times. Miserable.
Hear yah.. Don't that few times myself
*done
@Brainsbeforebeauty yeah-NOT fun. Not fun at all
No it sure isn't
Lets just say it was really bad, don't wanna talk about it and that bitch is in prison now
👍👍
There times when I was playing in a band in nightclubs and lounges 4 nights a week until 1:00AM then had to drive 200 miles to get to class the next morning. It wasn't fun and I sure as hell wasn't pretty when I dragged my tired ass into class.
Oh I'm sure you were still pretty🤣🤣
No sleep, fever, drunk, still went and puked 2 or 3 times.
Know that feeling, did that in my younger days
My ex and his friends beat the hell out of me and I spent the night at the ER and walked straight into work with broken ribs, tears and bruises over most of my body above the knees and elbows.
Omg. I hope they were charged
Worked for 3 days with a torn meniscus. Only stopped working when I basically couldn’t walk anymore. Didn’t know it was torn.
Yikes that must a been painful
Was very painful.
I had Covid last year and still worked. Didn't wanna miss all those potential pay days lol. I can be stubborn in other ways but then completely open minded in other ways.
I hear yah tho, bills still gotta get paid
Nodding out so bad on heroin they had to beg me to go home cuz I thought I was all good.
I went home. It was my last day. It was actually a decent place to work too. Damn drugs.
Hope you're clean now🙏
That's good👍
The worst has been having bad cramps and diarrhea because of my period, or that one time when I had a bad sinus and eye infection at the same time... I never had anything too serious, thankfully
Went to work night tern after drinking too much rum right before work. Then I was given a extremely warm job in an elevated place!
Aww that don't sound good
I bet.
I have been totally shitfaced at 230am Sunday night... slept an hour and still got to work by 4am... wishing it was Friday by 9am so i could do it all over again... that phase in life is way way over
Been there done that
Now ita get hammered over dinner and sleeping by 7... lol
Right! 😂
Coming to work dehydrated and have to work in a 89 degree kitchen, busy and no time for a break.
That must of sucked
It did, we had co workers pass out more than twice in time's past
Just barely surviving a car accident and going to work with a smashed face.
Omg... Should of went to hospital
I did. I went back to work a few days later.
I went to work on 3 hours of sleep one time.
(That was when I was 22. Definitely couldn't get away with that these days!!)
I know that feeling lolol
I had a horrible tooth abscess and still had to fly Beech Baron from Asheville to Orlando. That sucked.
I can imagine it did
I fought in a war with a 103 degree fever in the desert with a massive cut on my stomach and a broken ankle.
Thank you for your service🙏
Combo of fever and being nauseous, was too shy to just tell my boss I needed to get home.
Well hopefully you got through the day.. And yeah I was getting sick yesterday.. But still went in... Them bills gotta get paid🤷
I did I had to take a day off after that
Straight up hallucinating, could not walk straight, and fainted. 😎
Boss said I should leave, I did not.
We on that GRIND 😤
I care gave my wife from able body to only a shell of a person. I also work a full time job
My God was i wore out everyday for 7 years it almost took my life
I do know how it is... Glad you're still with us🙏🙏🤗
👍😊
Well if we are talking about school I whent in whilst recovering from listeria and got sent home. I got it on holiday and ended up in hospital in lanzarotie
I ended up having a fever of 100 and I didn't notice until I got home that day.
Aww that sucks
Went to work, endured a full shift, having a massive gallbladder attack.
Aww man know those can be painful
