What was your worst job?

My worst job was McDonald’s lol. Specifically as a manager. It was more tolerable as a crew member. And then when I got promoted I quickly learned why every manager I ever had there was absolutely miserable.

I would just get fucked over on my shifts all the time. They would give me the busiest shifts like Saturday nights or holidays. And then give me the worst of the worst staff they could possibly give me.

One of the worst shifts I ever worked was Halloween night. There was only 3 people including myself in the store. And one of them just started like 2 days earlier. It was horrific lol. The new girl almost left too, I had to beg her to stay.

They would also give me this girl Mikayla for my Saturday closings. She was a very sweet girl and everything but she also had a learning disability and could NOT handle being by herself, period. Much less on a Saturday night.
And she wasn’t 18 so she legally couldn’t stay past a certain time. So we’d be super behind because she wouldn’t get any work done just for her to have the luxury to leave before close. Like why the fuck would y'all schedule her this shift then?

i felt like i had to constantly beg for decent people on my shifts and they would never listen. Yet other managers would close on Tuesday nights with 2 other managers as their closers. Be so fucking for real lmao.

when I would complain about it, the other managers wouldn’t take me seriously and just acted like I was bad at my job. they literally had me convinced of that. At the time I legit thought I was just bad at my job and didn’t know how to manage.
but looking back at it, it was NOT me. I was just screwed over by the scheduling and everyone else.

all of that for $17 an hour. Suck my dick lmao.

I'm not surprised you had horrible employees when you were a manager. I remember when I used to eat at Mcdonalds a lot before the pandemic and there was one woman there who was absolutely terrible at everything and she would throw tantrums at you if you did not let her do things in her own slow and inefficient and incorrect way. If I asked for something on the menu and she did not know how to process it, she would lie and tell me it's not on the menu because she did not want to annoy the other employees by asking for instructions on how to process my order and she was also very rude while being horrible at her job. She is now okay at her job but it took over 4 months for her to perform her job at an acceptable level and a normal person would have been fired within 6 hours. She was very good looking so that is the only reason her manager hired her. I also remember when a woman who wrote a totally average essay that deserved a C- got 100% and public publications on popular platforms and websites and job offers simply because she was physically attractive. My essay was around 20 times better than hers and even though I got 100% on it, the professor never bothered to promote my work on any university platform just because he did not care about me, I was just another student and another pay cheque for him.

First job was at a sporting good store. I honestly just wanted to work there cause of the hot athletes that went there all the time, especially the baseball players. I was assigned to apparel but they tried to make me work the gun desk, cash register, shoe area, paddleboards, camp, camo, etc. One of my exes ended up visiting constantly and would torture me in the dressing room with stripteases. I was so afraid he’d get me fired. My team sucked and never wanted to do anything so i was always working alone. The store manager was cheap and didn't allow A/C and this was during the summer inside a huge store with like 50 employees and hundreds of customers. I hated that job so much that i’d cry otp To my boyfriend at the time. I eventually quit cause the pay was like $8/hr with only like 20 something hours a week and 75% of my checks went to my mom. I was working for nothing basically. I quit after 3-4 months

I worked at a fancy, self-proclaimed, "5-star" spa. If people ever saw what went on behind the scenes of this place, they would NEVER- EVER go back. And the therapists never got a fair-sized piece of the extraordinarily high fees that place charged, either. One day, an elderly couple came in, and the wife was asking about spa treatments. The husband must have been incontinent since while he waited for her, he pooped on the rug. WELL! The counter mgr at the spa and the cashier could have none of this! All they cared about was their poor, little rug. To heck with the poor guy and HIS feelings! Hello!!! There was nothing that could be done for the rug!!! (It was little more than a. runner, anyway, but it was like GOLD to the spa!!!) It was a goner at that point!!! I ran in the back, scooped up an armload of fresh towels and a clean robe, covered the man in a robe and towel, and escorted him back into the Men's area to help him get cleaned up. I always considered my occupation as a Massage Therapist was to help people to feel better, not to coddle a bottom line. So, while performing Massage Therapy is one of my favorite occupations, doing so at this particular spa was less than perfection- FAR less.

I worked at an amusement park in the hospitality dept. Which means I walked around with a pan and broom and swept up trash and cigarette butts, emptied trashcan around the park and hauled it to a dumpster. And the exciting part was when someone threw up on a ride I got to go clean it up.😂

But I was between Jr. High and high school so if you don't count paper routes it was my first job really.

I've had a few crummy positions due to fellow employees but the hardest one came January of 86.

Roofing is still in my opinion the toughest work around. It wasn't the hardship of schlepping heavy bundles ofcshingles up the ladder or standing on the roof pitch all day. Useing the modified shovels to tear off the old shingles was fairly harsh but thise roofs that had 3X layover nearly put me in the nut house. Simple because they were so brittle that it amounted to removing a one inch by one inch piece of material throughout. Tedium hung on me like a wet blanket. I STILL hate that job.

Looking after the feeder mice in a pet store. They knew I had always had pet rodents and still made me do this. I figured they wouldn't be looked after in that horrible situation as well as I would otherwise, so bit. I was 16. The owner of the store committed suicide later. I thought it was a bit of penance. He was a nasty piece of goods.

like I've had worse jobs now but nothing drained me like that one bc it was my first actual job i was allowed to work a lot of hours

Dishwasher for one day when I was 14 and then one hour as a car wash man being the only white guy not welcomed. They didn’t like me and complained to the manager. I was told to leave because of peer pressure from the manager I was never paid as a teen kid

You can't lump us all into one category and answer this question. The answer is some do some don't. Some have no preference as hair color isn't important enough to choose a relationship with someone over just that.

Working as a builder for men’s Macy’s, it was a summer job me and a buddy had in high school building stock rooms in the back of a Macy’s they were opening. It was so hot and dusty just awful work by conditions.
