Does a University Bachelor's Degree become completely worthless to employers and a waste of money if you have too many C grades on your transcript?

It seems like everyone I run into in University make it seem like being a Straight A or B student is mandatory in order for your degree to be useful and make any future employers want to hire you.

A university degree is pointless at this point, unless the thing you have a passion for in life requires college, I would recommend against it. Getting useless degrees and paying excessive money into these already filthy rich entities that has no interest in your outcomes is just a waste. Most people can do a trade school to do what they want to do and be done in a couple of years, certified making good money.
If you want to be a physicist, biologist, MD, engineer, sure you need college.
Business? Go to work and learn how a business works and make, not pay money to do it. Psychology? Give me a break. Pretty much any social science is a waste, unless you want to be a researcher. Art? I don't know, did Picasso go to college to learn art? How many actors went to college? Seeing how most of them seem to be complete morons, I seriously doubt their competency.

I not only think college is a waste, I think it's a scam. They tell you, you need to go so you can give them money and be indebted to them for the next 40 years. All for an outcome you probably could have achieved just by working hard and making good decisions, if that.

I've done interviews for hiring, before, and keep getting called back to do it, and I am more focused on EXPERIENCE and if they can answer the sample questions, actual job things, in a good way. I don't really care about a college degree, per se, but more that the candidate has done a similar job, and excelled, and I focus the questions on that, when they say they have done something much like what we are looking for!!
In this market, I would probably even hire a HS drop-out, with 4-5 years of experience, and answering the questions well!!

I have a lot of applicants who have attended 2 year trade schools for electrical. We hire a few here and there. Unfortunately the reports back from our foreman are that they are entitled, lazy, and generally useless. We hired an 18 year old kid a year ago, no experience with electrical, but had experience in restaurants. He was a fish washer. Best hire we've had in years. The point to what I'm saying is as an employer, I care way more about work ethic and teamwork than I care about your slip of paper from an institution. It may be different in your field, but I believe hard work and a willingness to learn and adapt trump grades.

I have a University bachelors in languages and comunication, i work as a Marketing Pr Manager for this company, and they never even cared to look at my grades, they just wanted the diploma that's all... but they never even ask for my final vote they didn't care...
That's sad also because my grades where actually good and if i knew it back then i'd stress out less for my exams... -_-
I haven no Idea if this is normal, but I think if it's a medical school or something, they might take a look at the grades. It might depend on what you actually graduated in...

C - depends what field you are going into, what your personal profile is like, and who you know!,,,

In UK years ago, a first was often a disadvantage because the thought was you spent three years studying only and not interacting socially, employers imho, don't just look at grades, they look at everything else as well such as experience of teamwork, thinking "outside the box", and evidence of the field you are applying for or evidence on how you can transfer your skills to the job description,,,

Grade inflation is real, there's a lot of pressure on instructors to give nothing less than 'B's, even from university leaders/deans/presidents. I've been a graduate assistant for a few years now and I feel pressured to grade on a logarithmic curve.

Grades are almost entirely irrelevant for like 99% of employers out there. Only if you're trying to work for somewhere super-competitive might it play a part (or if you're going to grad school), but otherwise, grades mean nothing once you've graduated.

GPA matters a lot for internships and first jobs. After that not so much.

Also, you don't need to mention it on your CV and by the time they ask for your transcript they pretty much already made the decision to hire you.

Only one place asked for my transcript and it was the shittiest job I ever had.

Grades only matter if you are working towards graduate school or given high responsibilities at your entry level job or if you have to take a qualifying test once you begin your career, otherwise, school reputation matters more than GPA.

I finished my undergrad with a 3.83 and no one ever gave a fuck about my GPA. Unless you are going right into grad school or a government job, no one cares about your GPA a few years after you graduate.

Also, as a minority and/or female, a poor GPA won't be held against you.

It really depends. Before worrying about grades, two other things are FAR more important:

1) Did you study something "real" and useful? So things like engineering, finance, computer science, any STEM really would count here. "Grievance studies" or any of the crap based on postmodernism, post-colonialism, sexism, racism, etc., etc., would be worse that useless.

2) Did you go to a good school?

I think they look into your work experience more than grades. Sometimes you can have a degree but still not get hired. Where you studied also matters.
