That is how a company sets itself up for failure. Making a choice for the sake of diversity is not always the right call. Let the liberals and those in fields who can afford to live in fantasies worry about that. When it comes to filling a critical position, go for skill, not different skin pigmentation.
Coming from a brown Asian guy (Indian), diversity is about allowing minority communities to have opportunities to prove themselves and have equal chances as privileged people. It's not about giving them free things. If the colored person was just as skilled as the other other girl or more skilled then it's acceptable, otherwise there's no point.
Sorry to doubt anyone but the world of business is never based on anything fair as long as some people earn millions of dollars a year while most, just enough to provide their family.
Owners of companies and highest leaders do what ever they want. No matter what laws are out up, others find ways around them.
This happened and is happening at my work and I actually spoke up about it as a black female so they were shocked. It’s not okay and sometimes I do believe the equity piece is taken too far. Don’t make me look bad.
This is subjective, it might have been up to the boss or whoever had to make that choice. It’s not right or wrong. They may choose whoever they think is right for the position as long as they fulfill the requirements.
She should quit and cite the reason of looking for higher positions. If she doesn't have the balls she's going to get stepped all over.
Right when they do these things they are at their weakest. A year later nobody will care anymore. The poor choice rn is a big chance. They can't afford to lose their best employee while taking a big chance. Once the random choice either does well and is settled or flunks out and is replaced they can risk losing a great employee. Hope that makes sense.

Yeah, that's racist. Start looking for another job and when your interviewer asks you about your motivation for changing jobs, you may state something like "due to discrimination based on races, that I won't go into too much detail.".
Also leave a negative feedback on that company once you're gone.
I believe that diversity in the workplace is important considering it hasn’t always been acceptable. but promotions should always come down to whose the most qualified instead of just picking someone to be the token poc
How? In this case it should have been the white girl cause she was most qualified. In a different company if the most qualified person is poc they should get it. You could be for diversity while still going by whose most qualified
Because white people can only be the most qualified? You could be diverse and still pick the best person for the job. Done with the conversation, boring me.
Obviously she ment in regards to the content of your post. And she has a point. It takes more bravery to openly share your beliefs. Than hide your identity in fear that someone may disagree
It's fucking bullshit. People who support it are openly admitting that they are morally and intellectually unqualified to attain any degree of respect from others.
This is Bidens America, Everything is about race, not qualifications or competency. Biden brags that his cabinet is the most diverse in history. He hired based on race and not on merit. The results speak for themselves.

you need to have physical actual proof it was racism otherwise they won't care and dismiss it. i went through the same thing when applying for a position at cvs 10 years ago and the case got dismissed because i didn't have any physical proof even though i was the only white male (correction only white person) there
It’s actually very likely that everyone around thought she deserved it when the manager hired the POC based on experience and attributes. Tbh, affirmative action doesn’t happen much farther up the managerial chain.
There is no "affirmative action", only discrimination and racism under the excuse of a made up equality. Nothing positive for the guy who just wanted a job and is now still unemployed because he was too pale.

It takes guts to go against the grain. I respect that.
Good for you.
Sounds good to me you can sue. Just like when it happens to other groups sex, age, religion, political affiliation, gay, or race.
Welcome to the club.
And it's funny cuz it's a white person doing it to another white person lol.
Anyway you can sis.

Your comment literally contradicts itself.
Diversity is tokenism
How? In this case it should have been the white girl cause she was most qualified. In a different company if the most qualified person is poc they should get it. You could be for diversity while still going by whose most qualified
If you're going for the most qualified, diversity is not in consideration

If im a CEO and im hiring, the color of ones skin is about the most irrelevant part.
The only item of interest when hiring, is the CV of the person.
Sorry but I no longer give my opinion to anonymous asker's

Based on your story you don't even know, but think this was the case. And you're using this to say it happened lol
They should just move laterally to a different company. And make more money. It doesn’t matter cause everyone is hiring.
Which company do you work for? I want to know, so that I can never buy their products or use their services again.

I’m gonna bet this never happened because there’s a reason why you went anonymous to post this
I agree 100% even being white.
It's historical reparation.
