Are you ok with changing your work schedule for a special project?

If your company is running a special project outside of normal work hours, and ask you to take part, would you if it earned you extra money and benefits, and looked good on your CV/resume?
Or would you say screw them, I'm not doing anything for them?

So for the next few weeks I'm going to be heading up a special project for my company, and the working day will start at 4pm and finish at 11pm. Its a slight shorter work day, with financial bonuses and additional benefits. But the company is having trouble getting 12 employees to sign up to it voluntarily. I would have thought people would have jumped at the chance.
What is your view on doing temporary unusual working hours for your company?

Companies tend to make a lot more profit off of these projects and give only a token of it to those who complete it. Someone once told me the people who know how tend to work for those who know why. Your time is the most valuable thing you possess. So is it really worth it? I say only take what you need. Use the rest to live a life of purpose.

Trust me financially its well worth it with this project.

I already work all over the 24/7... so it would not a problem for me, other than that.. if it's a new task or project I like to be there to see what is it about, out of routine always makes things more interesting for me

Nope. I'm early to bed and early to rise. Plus I still have kids at home who need me to be around in the evening.

Doing the unusual stuff is what gets you noticed. Even if it doesn't it helps if you want to jump ship

Yeah I’ve been pretty much that for a lot of last year and this year.

i have UK office to cover and also inherited some of the West Coast US techs as well.

Some days are 9am to midnight and a couple of calls after midnight 😂

My Gin usage has increased.

all my working life has been weird hours so it’s not a big problem, it’s situation usual.

It's must be a very interesting and rewarding project for me to do that. In most cases it would be hell no.

Yes, I often did this. I used to come in on Saturdays to work on a system when the school was closed.

Yes, especially the evening shift. Early mornings are tougher. 🥴

At one time I would have & did do it. After years of this I got screwed over recently by the company. So then on it's not ever going to happen.
