Do jobs have ulterior motives sometimes?

I am looking to get into a field of hr and admin work.
The position is like customer service but the hr manager says she promises to get me into hr if that's what I want.
She also said I will be able to help out.

Basically the job description didn't really match with what they were telling me and I'm wondering if I can trust it

Jobs always have ulterior motives - and I used to work HR.

She might be able to help, but it's equally likely she won't. You don't need any special education to work in HR, either. Most HR Admin jobs just require high school, maybe university now.

Take the job if you need it, but look for an HR Admin or entry level HR job elsewhere as soon as you can.

Always be looking, always be negotiating.

Companies aren't going to help you. That's not what they do. They'll tell you they will, but they're lying. They want you to fill a specific gear-shaped hole, and that's it.

Advancement only happens when you push for it hard.
