I come from the Christian tradition which says you must prioritize service to the world above selfish gain, so you would not create dishonest advertisements if it boosts your income more than an honest ad would. You would not take credit for the work other people do to get a bigger raise and you won’t scream at a lazy employee if it will make them 3% more efficient at their job but cause then emotional pain and anxiety.

I think work should benefit mankind in at least some small way. But my definition is pretty broad - serving people food, cleaning tables etc is still benefiting people
