How come they (news channels) say no one wants to work?

The state where I live the state cannot find enough lifeguards to work at public beaches. They offer 20 bucks/hour plus a thousand dollar bonus to anyone who stays until Labor Day.
When I was a kid you had to be related to a politician to get one of those jobs.
and back in the day they just got minimum wage. I just do not get it
My church day care cannot find people who want to work as teachers with our kids (age 6 weeks to 5 years old.) In my law office, we recently hired two new employees and it took several weeks to get any serious applications.
Thanks for MHO!

The media has been using manipulation for a long time and more so since covid-19 just like with covid-19 they said our hospital beds were filled with people the covid-19 they say the hospitals were packed I didn't believe it so I went down there to find out we have four hospitals in my city not one of them were packed jam with anybody it was quiet like a ghost town in the waiting room there might have been two people in one of them and zero and all the other ones
When I was in high school I thought it was cool that news media guys would go over to the ward they would put themselves in the hard positions in the ones it took guts to be in because they wanted to be the best they wanted to be known as the best reporter look at them now they're all sheep they all read what is on the prompter somebody else is written for them I used to like Lester Holt I still like Lester Holt but the thing is listen to his words at the end of a show it's all written by somebody to make us feel something it used to be real but now it's all the form of manipulation
Simply put, people don't want to work for shit wages. After the COVID lockdowns, the workers finally had some semblance of leverage.
So what the corporate media will do is basically sit there and publicly shame the workers for not accepting the shit wages.
Some businesses around me had to cut hours or temporarily close due to staff shortages, but would post a sign saying "people don't want to work." Rather than raising wages or pinning it more on management.
I made a point of refusing service to any such businesses. You refuse to raise the wages of your underpaid staff, and decide to blame and guilt trip potential workers and inconvenience the customers rather than suck it up and actually pay your workers.
I watched a few such businesses close down, and the general sentiment was "good riddance", and they were replaced with businesses that paid employees well and had no worker shortage issues and lots of customers.
Imagine actively killing your own business just to disrespect your employees. They would NOT survive in Europe where workers actually have decent rights.
Politics, unsurprisingly. For all the Republicans complain about the "liberal media", the media (in the US, at least) isn't liberal at all- it's just STRONGLY Democrat-aligned, largely because so many of the owners are Democrats themselves, and perhaps even MORE largely because ownership of it is so consolidated; ever more power in ever fewer hands. It's a pity that so few read Chesterton anymore, and a greater pity that so few ever did. Distributism doesn't really work as a whole system of economics, but the underlying principles are DAMN good ones.
Now yes, it's true that many people avoided going back to work when they got paid just as well (or nearly so) to sit back and collect unemployment checks in the early days of Covid, and the conservative fear that that would keep them out of the market had some truth to it- but those programs have dried up in every state I've looked into them in. And the constant onslaught of fear porn didn't help; when pointing out that the danger's been exaggerated means social death, few people will do it, and that means the only voices most people hear are shouting doom and gloom. Most people have less to fear from Covid than from being crushed to death beneath a pile of winning lottery tickets, but good luck getting anyone to accept that. Fear has conquered their hearts, and it'll be a long, LONG time before they even try to reclaim them.
I'm looking for work myself, and believe me, all the "We're hiring, and desperately!" you hear is... well, I won't say it's all malarkey, but it means less than you'd think. When you apply for a job, and get rejected, and then see the signs saying "we're reducing our operating hours due to staffing shortages", you start to suspect something's up.
The pandemic, and the initial response by politicians, has created the perfect storm of indifferent attitudes, that Americans have embraced with regards to their work ethic. The worst decision that politicians presented to the American public, was the option of getting paid more money to stay home in order to better control the spread of covid. That decision, along with the continuing covid variants that cause new outbreaks, is all the American public needs to rationalize their decision to remain unemployed. Eventually, the money will run out.
They lie. Many jobs that are available are fast food lunch rush 2 hour shifts that aren't worth someone's time.
Plus other jobs became vacant due to vaccine mandates and people were fired, quit, or retired due to not taking the dangerous covid vaccine.
And on top of all that, people got bonus unemployment for a while that was more money than they normally made and didn't have to pay rent either so they have lots of money saved up.
There are multiple factors, all caused by the government. And unemployment is MUCH higher than the rate they show. The people that quit or were fired over the vaccine mandates don't count for the unemployment numbers.
That past due rent money is still accruing. When the eviction moratorium runs out, those people's chickens are going to come home to roost and they're going to be FUCKED.
I think there is just a migration of population from states that abused their residents to state with more freedom. When you lock down people, tell them they can't work or run a business, they can't do stuff without a mask on, try to mandate harmful vaccines, tax them to death, implement CRT, insert tranny pedos in their children's classrooms, try to take their guns, implement wealth taxes, etc. people with the means say fuck that, pack their bags, and take their family and leave. This creates a brain drain in some states as they flock to new locations. Eventually the companies follow the talent and money to those same states and then there is no longer an employee shortage, just a reduced GDP in the states that failed their people.
Because they lie through their dentures! They're doing the best they can to prop up a demented old man that doesn't know his hole from an ass in the ground and make him look as much better to us and they can!
If I had a way to get a damn job where I am, now, I'd get one! But,. I'm stuck! I'm up on top of a hill where I'd have to up or down a VERY steep hill to get to a bus, there's only ONE bus going by here and it's almost NEVER on schedule!! The only place I can access in a couple minutes is a smelly old ashtray, I MEAN, bar at the bottom of the hill and, from what I've seen, the only help they'd need is janitorial!!
If I was still at MY house, I was just over a mile away from the nearest mall and shopping center, I had 3 buses to choose from and they ran several times an hour and I could get just about anywhere I wanted to go within an hour or less!
In Southern California a decent place for rent is 2.3k and up. But we have tons of min wage jobs out here hiring for 15.00 maybe 15.50 when nobody could pay rent with that and pay their bills or for the 6$ gas out here lol the jobs that pay 17$ and higher in some businesses and close by cities have all the workers and their full lol because you could actually afford your portion of rent & pay for gas to get to work. So until companies raise their wages to the cost of living where they're serving more people would work there, if not they're just gonna sit there with a now hiring sign for months or years.
All in All blame the Biden Administration & the current Gov team in Cali to allow sky rocketing prices during "covid" & "inflation" and our current white house team who can throw billions to Ukraine & pay immigrants and refugees to live here & buy brand new houses but can't help Americans.
I don't really understand it either, how are they making money. I know some companies started more work from home jobs during height of the pandemic but I doubt regualer non-work from home industry has lost everyone to this work from home jobs, so where did all the workers go, it's very strange.
When you see an entry level position demanding you have 15 years experience, and a PhD while only offering 20k per year. It's no wonder it's hard to find work. I'm lucky, I'm employed. But I see this all the time, jobs requiring more and more, and offering less and less for what they demand. It's like there is some kind of disconnect between them and the American people.
Because they want to justify mass immigration. The truth is that employers are overly picky when hiring and many jobs donât pay enough to incentivize people who were born and raised here to work because they know theyâll be allowed to import cheap labor from overseas.
Iv heard this, im 27 and a Lotta people are on welfare who are able go work. A Lotta people have degrees and can't get a job. I think in this country we've got a crisis of opportunity not motivation.
If you told me I have a real fair shot at starting up a business with government assistance and with some real work I can be successful I'd work very hard.
Or rather a man once said we'll offer an 18 yr old kid thousands to get a degree but not to start a business.
i dunno, it isn't true. people are very eager for new jobs. but maybe they don't want such low paying tat as what is being offered. employers are very eager to hire right now though. i got offered several new jobs all in a week. I think it's because baby boomers are retiring this year and everyone is getting bumped up
I have wondered the same thing.
I am just finishing a four week long vacation. It is amazing the worker shortage.
Maybe we need to start the draft again and draft people to work?
I am afraid to see what happens when these non-wanting to work people need to go back to work and the illegals have the jobs that they want!
They ain't lying though🤷🏼ââď¸
People want, want, want... Brand new phones, big screen TV's, fancy cars they can't afford, but they don't want to put out hard work, it's the "entitlement era"...
same here.
There are so many open jobs in our area, I have no idea how those that choose not to work support themselves either, unless there is more "free" money out there.
Itâs not that nobody wants to work, itâs just that people are finally standing up for themselves and turning down/quitting jobs that treat and pay them like shit.
Older generations are so used to saying âWell I work 7 days a week and 15 hours a day at a job that doesnât give two shits about me! Thatâs how life works!â
That theyâre confused that younger people are acknowledging that thatâs complete bullshit and people shouldnât have to slave away with no days off to be able to pay rent
@JustinTheGreat Women used to expect their husbands to do that. (Maybe they still do: I don't know.)
You're Absolutely wrong I found a steady job in the US Army as a Scout Sniper after two years I resigned and became a USAF PJ and spent another 15 years and Retired after that I spent another 10 years in security. So what is it with these young people? I just don't fully understand it why aren't they willing to work?
I guess they have a lot of money and donât need to work? From like investments and stuff.
I left my job because COVID got me sick for 2 years now I left with a weak lung
Because they gotta talk shi to the dumbasses who listen. Those who will listen to the news instead of seeing the fact themselves
