Why do people act like they can’t get a job?

Yeah, maybe they have a hard time getting the job they’re wanting. But they need to gain experience. Having a education is great but also having experience is important.

It’s easy now then ever to get a job you’re not even qualified for because everyone is hiring. Just take the job you can get, and eventually either move up there or find something else later. Once you can prove you’re able to do it.

You may need to start stocking part time, you may need to work at McDonalds, you may need to drive a school bus; the list goes on. But you’ll gain experience and show what you can do. Eventually move up to doing something else

What a very privileged thing to ask.

Just because the company has a job listing that’s been open for over a month it doesn’t mean they’re hiring. I used to work in the job of finding jobs for others, specifically disabled people. They often had limitations on what they could do and it was my job to find them a job that fit their skillset and interests. Sure, I could have given the computer programmer a McDonald’s application but you know why I didn’t? Because I knew he would not only hate it, but food service or anything related to customer service is inarguably one of the worst jobs to work in this country. When people say they can’t find a job, it’s not referring to any job at all, it’s referring to the jobs they studied for, the jobs they got a degree in. Yes, customer service jobs are always in demand because they rarely have enough long term staff to give them the work power they need, that doesn’t mean that job is right for them or that they could even do it. You are someone who presumably already has a job and hasn’t had to suffer through losing it or contemplating unemployment. Did you know that most employers look at online applications for an average total of 3 seconds per application? And that’s after it’s been put through an AI scanner searching for specific buzzwords. People are not checking resumes anymore, computers are. Not to mention all the tests you end up doing on websites like Indeed. Many people submit applications and never hear back because the employers never know they applied or even existed. Even fewer people are calling the place they applied in the hopes of getting an actual person to look at their resume and a majority of the time the hiring manager is either unavailable or they’re simply not hiring because that hiring manager is not the one that made the job listing. Their boss’s boss’s boss told someone else to make it so it looks like they can have an constant inflow of workers when that location probably doesn’t need anyone at all. You don’t get to validly critique a struggle you have not experienced yourself.

Many people just don't want to work. Where I work has been advertising for 3 months and we have only had one applicant.

Because it takes responsibility off of themselves. It's the same when people complain about not being able to find anyone to date.

A lot of people my age spent a lot of money and time trying to get degrees to make a career out of our passions. In reality, our degrees mostly haven't given us what we were promised and many people are quite angry about it.

If you've spent $100k on a degree to do a particular job, you're going to be pretty friggin salty if you can't land a job doing the thing that you want to do.

I've applied for a few positions in different fields and just got ghosted. So, I honestly don't know what you mean. It's really not that easy to get one
