Can you claim yourself as a dependent on your W4?

Someone at work told me I could as I depend on myself to survive, I had just updated my W4. Was this a mistake?

That is basically what the standard deduction is. You are deducting yourself.

so changing from single with 0 dependents to head of home w/1 dependent just saves me $500 or? I paid 2000 in taxes and made 5200 in the last month and half

I think the standard deduction was raised a couple of years ago so I would go with that.

It equals out when you do your taxes, claim yourself through the year and get nothing back, or claim no one through the year and get money back when you do taxes, it depends on what works for you
