I'm a business owner and I work six and a half days a week. It depends on the job requirements and what the employee is able to work. The employee can change their availability according to their needs.

It's up to them. Nobody *needs* to work six - or even five - days a week though. Most people work a lot because, whether they admit it or not, they're obsessed with material things and status - they always want new clothes, a fancy new car, a fancy new phone, a new games console for their kids, etc.

The three best selling car brands in the UK last year were all expensive German brands (VW, Audi and BMW), while the £45k Tesla Model 3 was the second best selling individual model. The iPhone was by far the best selling mobile phone, despite also being one of the most expensive. It's the same with most other things too. People could work far less if they simply didn't waste money like this, but that's their choice.

More and more people are realizing though, especially since the Covid lockdowns, that it's just not worth it. I work up to six days a week (depending on the weather), but it's fun (you can barely even call it work) and I only work for less than half of the year.

I think different people have different levels of work that they want. When humans were hunter gatherers, they worked about 4-6 hours a day for hundreds of thousands of years, the 8 hour work day is pretty recent comparatively

5 days at 8 hours a day max, need a "weekend" of downtime. Some jobs allow a 4-day workweek, 10 hours a day.

4 10s was always my favourite. Doing 4 on 4 off now and that’s plenty, I’ve done my share of 80+ hour weeks and it’s just not sustainable

Three days per week is enough for me. Anything more would be excessive; I mean, it's not like I need the money.
