Yeah. I won't be out watching the fireworks, I'll probably BBQ & read a good book. Friends were talking about taking a pontoon boat out on the lake but I'm the only single one in my circle. I got to take my mom to a Dr. appointment tomorrow, there's this 9/10 nurse who was rubbing my arm in front of my mom while taking her BP last appointment. Think I'll ask her if she wants to go if she's there that day:) I know she REALLY likes me, even has that drunk dreamy look on her face in front of her colleagues, she just can't help herself I guess & who can blame her?
Where I live the 4th is a paid holiday. If you work it's time and a half pay. I'm closed for the day unless I get an emergency service call but they're going to pay extra for me to come out.
I'd check with your department of labor laws. It might be mandatory to pay for holidays and extra pay if you work. If they're breaking the law, report them
If you reported your last job for Osha violations they would get on their backs. Osha is for the safety of the workforce. I've delt with them a few times.
I bet if you looked in there it would tell you what holidays they pay you for, if any. If they don't pay you, you can send it to the department of labor and get them in trouble
Yeah it should be a double banger. Is superbowl always on a weekend? Our equiv Grand Final is always on Saturday and the public hol on Friday.
Melbourne cup is always a Tuesday and anyone who hasn't taken the Monday off starts the working day with a chicken and champagne breakfast. Nothing productive happens after that.
I'm free pretty much everyday , and certainly all of July , but 4th July is not a thing here , nor was it in Australia , other than the US market was closed.
I have to work 3 12 hours shifts Saturday Sunday and Monday so I can't really join in any 4th July festivities but I guess I get some good overtime and holiday pay.
I gotta work today, they gave all the senior employees off and made the juniors work 🙄 but after work imma go visit my parents for some BBQ and just hangout.
There's a few scenerios I could enjoy the parking lot experience in lol I see the possibility. My favorite place would be this one area where a bunch of real pretty lake houses are, circling around this part of the lake where the main road also is. Makes a Disney movie setting for fireworks, like Erendale or somethin. Haven't seen it myself but saw where it is. 👌
Omg there's a neighborhood near me where all the rich house surround the lake but a lot of the time the gates are left open so some of anyone tends to sneak through to either site see or go to the lake. Its just like what you're describing!!
Frickin lucky! But i hated havin Tuesdays off. It was weird to be off Sun then work Mon then be off again. Ideally I’d be off Wednesday/Sat or Fri/Sat/Sun
Unfortunately the on call people can't. It's not like they are at the office, they just gotta carry the on call phones. The good part of that is if people call today, it gets billed at 1500 dollars per hour, billed in one hour increments. So it becomes stupid expensive for our clients to call on a holiday.
Yeah exactly. Hell normal on call (after hours calls) are billed at between 150 per hour and 250 per hour. We do offer 24x7 service, but it's expensive lol.
We are an IT managed services provider, we cater to banks, cpa firms, hospitals, government entities, including the DOD, and a few other disciplines. I am a cyber security analyst and expirt.
