Is my boss disappointed?

Anonymous

Recently i started a new job and i feel like a disappointment. It is a sales job in a store. There is a lot of downtime because customers are not always there to interact with. So i have to be around my coworkers and managers often and they seem social. I have severe social anxiety and i can barely speak. I dont know what my boss saw in me during the interview but i think he's regretting chosing me. He said i seem very nervous (on my second or third day). That doesn't sound like a compliment at all.

He is one of those super charismatic people who makes jokes constantly and everyone is comfy around him.

I am fine talking to customers because there is a reason for me talking to them: products/business. But being around coworkers and managers during downtime is really starting to bother me. I knew getting a sales job would be out my comfort zone but I am surprised because the customer interaction isn't whats stressing me. Its the people I work with. I feel like I am not accepted and am being judged because I feel like I am being watched and expected to start flirtimg with the people i work with or having entertaining small talk and making jokes like they do. Its just not me. I am very quiet in real life. I can sit still and stare at nothing and have almost no thoughts.
