Are remedial classes for the dumb?

Not necessarily. People learn at different speeds. Some kids excel in some subjects but struggle in others. Being in remedial does not mean he/she is dumb. Kids who come from troubled families may find themselves day dreaming during class; the teacher may not be able to devote precious class time to coach him privately and bring him up to speed in a big class. Remedial classes are usually smaller with fewer students, which would allow the teacher to better guide students who are weaker in a particular subject. Additionally, some students may not feel comfortable asking questions in class, so remedial classes are a great time for these students to raise questions to the teacher.

No they are not. Sometimes a student might need a remedial class to fill in some gaps before moving on to higher education.
