What if a job environment is so stressful and you need that job to survive?

What if your work environment wants you to work 8 hours and more, though there is no actual work but making a small work look like it’s lot of work creating an uneasy environment. Endless meetings just to point someone if they don’t have certain skill. Me and one of my team mate are feelings this.

What do you suggest at this sort of situation.


Im looking for other jobs. Still wants to know if this is common.

Ah, I had a job like that once. Sometimes there was just nothing to do, and my boss wouldn't say anything to me about it, he would just kept pacing back and forth behind me. It used to scare me actually. Then I discovered the art of looking busy when you're not.
I would dig around and find all kinds of papers and folders and put them all over my desk and keep busy looking at them until 5:00, then I was outta there.
Work can be stressful for a plethora of reasons - that's why they call it work and not fun.
I hope you find a job that does suit you very soon.

It's difficult to find the perfect job, but it is more difficult to stay on a toxic work environment. 💀 I suggest looking for another job as a back up plan, then leave your current work if it's getting really toxic.

Most jobs are stressful. So its ok to find a new one in the hopes of being better. Thats what I would do.

I’d leave and find a work environment that’s more compatible for me. Life is too short to burn yourself down over a job you don’t like. I honestly refuse to fall into societies standards of working a job I’m not enjoying just to live a life I can’t do anything with because too much of my time is being taken up by the job that I don’t like lmao

Surely I want to, my previous works went so well. I came to this job for “extra bucks”. And I’m spending this “extra bucks” in dealing with my stress I get here. 😃

But I’m not liking it, I want to work. Good lesson learned. Life is more important.

Until then, I lowered my hearing power, sight of my eyes for my peaceful. Sometimes it freaks when I get messages on how to write an email. I’ve been writing emails for a decade. Even other teams also make sure We get the point. But our team is like I have mentioned everything.

Surely I’m trying. But spending hours just to set time in an excel sheet with so uneasy people are around, sometimes taking more than working hours. Because they be in the meeting, point everything in a sarcastic way, and ask me to figure out. If I ask them to help me. He would say “I don’t want to help, you figure it out”. One of the production team guy clearly said “ timings are not important, just put some 5-10 min”. Plainly I’ve done so much work out without their help. It’s effecting my day. It’s not just 1 or 2 meetings. Sometimes.5-6 meetings and in them, 1 or two meetings would go over 2 hours.

Work is not difficult, all im saying is “it’s an in easy environment working with my “lead”. We spend endless hours just to write an email. Other teams and teammates care if we get the point. He cares if we added the entire story in a good 3-4 lines, attached screen shots, attached approvals.

Let’s say I raise a ticket to get access, he wants me to send an email to Approval Manager. When I reach out to this approval manager. He clearly mentioned this “FYI I get notification and an email everytime someone raised ticket. And I approve it in no time”, And apart from that I got your email”.

I think I do. This is not my first job. I have idea on how these things works. I would not post this question if I didn’t feel anything. It’s not work that is causing uneasy feeling. It is because of this “lead”. Like I’m saying, I’m not sure if wants to show us his inferiority or seniority. He’d say he is wanting to help I appreciate the help and if I get it. Why would I write this post about him and not about others. I’ve been in this job for the last 9 months. I checked with other teammates if my work is not enough? They all mentioned and feel the same way I do about this person. Which is why I posted this to get some tips or motivation to face a situation like this. My team mate he who have less experience than me mentioned “i asked the lead a question and he joined in my zoom, my hands are shaking while he asks me to share the screen and do this and do that, why did you do this, what’s the reason of doing it. And wasted 30 min of asking different questions, but never answered my question”.
