What is you take or thought on this question? Do non- humans have rights?

Pretty much every country has animal cruelty laws, and some of them even grant the octopus "honorary vertebrate" status, so there are specific delineations by type of animal.

Interestingly, a company I recently worked at had a "people services" rather than "human services" department; I asked why, since we're a LONG way from hiring members of any other species. No one I talked to could tell me.

Of course. Though humans are hypocrites so these rights only sometimes are applied by law.
