I’d be ok with that. My check is only about $60 I get paid $2.13 an hour so I think if it was like 10% of your paycheck then that’s okay.
Wait $2.13 an hour? You’re a server?
$50 from your tips?
I support our local public school system already.
I can spare more as long as accountability is transparent.
Thank you ma’am
Thanks @CAPTAIN-OBVIOUS for the other MHO. :)

No, I would not be okay with that. The problem isn't school funding, the problem is that the school boards and superintendents are all corrupt AF in America. They have PLENTY of money to go around.
The fact that the American school boards are trying to literally indoctrinate children with LGBT propaganda, secret trans sessions hidden from the parents, and anti-white racism, Critical Race Theory, and then call the F*CKING PARENTS "domestic terrorists" for speaking out against this and telling them they have no right to what their children learn in school, should be all the proof you need that these sh*tstains are intentionally ruining America's youth.
I'm not even going to mince words; I wish all of these assholes in the school board would get Columbined. Innocent children don't ever need a school shooting, but these POS'es 100% do. I'm not even a parent saying that. Once you decide to groom and brainwash children and make them hate themselves for being white or "CIS gendered," I have no problem with seeing a psychopath shoot some lead into you. THIS is just one thing ruining America right now, and as much as I want to blame Biden for it, it's been a problem for over ten years now, and possibly more likely to be Obama's doing.
So no. F*ck that deal. I would be more accepting if they used $50 every month to FIRE all the woke teachers and ensure teachers can't be hired unless they have extensive anti-crazy, anti-woke background checks done to them first. Money isn't a problem; the corrupt assholes are just keeping it all for themselves. There's a reason why I'm not a teacher in America.
Last week, we first grade teachers said, we are skipping lessons about 2 mommy, 2 daddy families. Such nonesense. What ever happened to just teach them to read and write.
Actually, I forgot about No Child Left Behind with George Dubya. Damn, how long as the American school system been f*cked up? It was bad even when I went to school and had to do most of my learning on pre-YouTube internet after school, cause the teachers were so bad at teaching us anything.
@midnightmoon05 can we get you to run for state rep or something?
@exitseven He has to live in the US for that.
@DubiousIntentions I was talking aboit @midnightmoon05
@exitseven I appreciate that.
I love my job so much to give it up. Here.. I have some control. Out there…they may kill me.
No I wouldn't be OK paying that. First of all, I already pay a lot more than that for schools. Second, like any other government agency, schools are extremely wasteful with their spending. You don't make it better by simply throwing money at it.
Here in the US we spend more on education than any other country in the world. The schools are always begging for more money. When they get it does the education get better? Nope. That's because more money is not what's needed. What they need is a classroom, teachers, and books. Everything else does little to improve education.
Although you could argue that parents and the students themselves are the most important thing. The best schools and teachers will accomplish very little unless the students put in some effort.
Whenever we vote in a bond measure for schools so they can have more money, guess what is the first thing they do with that money? Give the teachers a raise so that we are right back at the start again with no money for the kids.
Hmm let me think would I want to pay towards a thing I hated and wished never existed?
Think that's gotta be a no from me.
Wouldn't mind paying for nursey and younger education ya know the stuff that's needed.
But not exactly gonna pay for a person to be taught the exact same math classes every year just so they can pass a dumb exam that means nothing that they can retake anytime if they want to. Thing called google if you want to learn basic maths better yet YouTube then just rewatch it until ya get it and if you don't... then you may have other learning issues that can only be solved by special ways anyway not by a basic school.
Oh, do the schools need more money so they can continue to lock children away from their parents and put on drag queen shows to entertain the little one's (they start at age 3). More money so they can talk with the administrator and teacher's about your pee pee and what you could have instead if you wanted.
No, no money - and I know it would be spent on that crap!
The money goes into infrastructure and other stuff like that
Throwing money at a broken system isn't going to fix it at this point. It's got to be ripped down and rebuilt, but the problem is "who oversees that". For example, in Florida right now you have a Governor who decides what's appropriate for kids to learn at what age. He wants to abandon public schools and go to charter funding, where there is even LESS oversight.
So no, I'm not willing to give more money in taxes to perpetuate the current system. I'd be more in favor of taking the portion allotted for lunch and hiring an outside food prep company that is overseen by nutritionists and a separate supervisory board with representatives from different school districts. I'd be willing to pay for that if the control was taken away from the screw ups currently running it and given to food experts overseen by concerned parents.
Nope. School systems already have enough funding channels as it is through taxes and fees (federal funding, state funding, local mill levies, this tax, that tax, etc). If they have funding problems, they need to re-look how they're spending. Public schools may have issues, but collecting and throwing more money at them isn't a fix.
There’s a lot of schools that are underfunded
But a lot of schools are funded based on property taxes and some properties are poor so the funding is then poor
It varies from locality to locality, so it's a local or state fix - not something just collecting $50 from everyone's paycheck each payday is going to fix. HOW they spend money earmarked for education is the real underlying problem. Our county passed a mill levy a few years ago, purportedly to "improve the quality of education." But it ended up being used to build a new press box at the high school football stadium and buy athletic equipment, and not one penny was used to improve education, teacher salaries, student quality of life, or anything else. Bottom line is there are already plenty of funding channels for the money, they don't need to collect any more from our pockets.
We're taxed half to death as it is. Where local schools think they are (or maybe are) underfunded, it's a local issue. If you want to propose additional taxes or fees in your local school district, have at it. They're not willingly going to get another penny from me where I live.
I already pay outrageously high property taxes. I know that there is a tremendous amount of waste in government, even at the local level. I have worked in both state and local government agencies and I have seen how wasteful it can be up close and personal. At the federal level it is much worse. I will keep the 50 bucks a week thank you very much.
Schools already get money from taxes, the lottery ( remember the old phrase "The kids win too), and other sources. How much money do you think they need? Parents already help teachers pay for school supplies and have to pay for their kids to play in school sports. At least here they do.
I guess not all of us live in rich areas
That's why we are NOT rich. We pay taxes and then the school charges us for school sports, and school supplies for the lower grades.
I’m just saying I wouldn’t mind being poor as a kid if I went to a really nice school
We already have that and more, by my rough math... right now it is about 77 dollars a paycheck that goes to property taxes which goes 80% to education.
The state income tax is almost all education too, so rough rounding is I am already above that by double, most likely.
@MCheetah We had a class called "Money Management" that was a math credit, at the beginning of the year. Everyone rolled the dice to get a random job, then we had to live life. Each day we'd get paid and get basic bills and could buy stuff, etc... think of it like a game of life sort of.
At each quarter, your grade was based on how good you were doing. No one failed the class but a A meant you had good savings and doing good, C meant you had debt but could handle it, average... anything less meant your debt to income ratio was too high.
We were taught all about things like that, how credit scores work, debt to income ratio, how much your monthly rent/housing costs should be. It was actually pretty fun class too cause we could buy stuff from others who would try to sell stuff. It's own little economy and that mixed in with the lessons each day.
I remember being a toilet paper saleswoman, so I had to go around and try to sell toilet paper, at least most people wanted to buy that. Until I got a better job later on.
Sounds like a better school than most! A hell of a lot of kids could benefit from that!
I just grew up dirt poor and could barely eat at times, so life taught me how to manage my money well. I've just been spending a lot the past few months because of things like bariatric surgery, skin treatments, dental work, and all the f*cked-up sh*t that's supposed to be taken care of by your parents when you're young, that I never got.
No, they have tons of money and you should see how awful they misuse funds and waste materials. You should see the brand new books, materials they throw out, it sickens my stomch.
The money we paid from our tax can do so well if done right.
I know someone on the receiving end of it. He would buy the school something, along with a second which went to his kids at home…. and then bragged about it.
He lost lost his job and faced legal issues. I do not trust that process anymore. The ego on that man alone.
Something similar happened with several people handling the local senior center donations too.
How do you screen people who for all outward appearances seem sane in the head?
Nope if anything schools have today have shown me they aren't worth my money and I need the money I do make for food, bills, gas, I'm not gonna waste my hard earned money on teachers that are more concerned with grooming kids then teaching them what they need to succeed in life.
No. Public schools are a failure. In California per-pupil spending was $21,596 in 2021–22, or about $120 per day per student. Private schools do a much better job for 3/4 of the cost, and Montessori Schools do it for less than half.
My property and income tax already go to public education. They don't need more from me, they need to learn how to budget better and hire teachers that actually teach and not push their own politics.
However, I would be happy to pay a little more toward charter and tech schools.
They already take a lot more than that, depending on your State you spend between $7,000(Utah) - $30,000 (New York) per kid every year on education. That works out to between $140,000 - $900,000 per classroom every year.
You tell me that isn't enough and I will tell you they are not paying any of us enough to do our jobs. Anther $50 dollars would hardly make a difference to our corrupt public school system.
I pretty much already loose more than 4x that much yearly. What I would like is a say in what children are taught. Children have been indoctrinated and brainwashed to believe that I or men are so dangerous to them AND THAT could not be more hurtful.
If the money was going to be spent properly to the benefit of the children, meaning proper management, distribution, and oversight, then I'd do it. But if they're just gonna fucking waste it like they do now, then no. But if I had that guarantee, then yes.
No. For that mind of money i could invest in a private skool wherein i actually have a say in the curriculum and instructors.
You wouldn’t care about the rest of the children that have poor parents
When you say “care” what you mean is ‘invest in’. That’s a manipulation tool. Of course i care, but the extent to which i can afford to care is what you’re really challenging. It’s me and mine first. IF i have something to spare after those concerns, then i can afford to “care” accordingly. The expectation that i care for YOUR kids equally to or over my own, when you failed to make the same sacrifices i chose in order to achieve what i did is selfish and ignorant.
No it's a part of the regular tax already. And you should pay according to your salary not a fixed sum. And not that much from each citizen. School doesn't cost that much if you compare to a full work life.
Problem where I live is they don't know how to manage the money. They just say we lost 5 million not sure where it went then put on the ballot that the schools now need more money. Happens every year. So No.. No thanks.
No. Instead they should stop taxing single childless people MORE than the people that had the kids. Right now the single childless people are the ones paying the taxes for other people's kids education.
Well, they currently take a LOT more than that, so if we could get the number DOWN to $50 per pay check, that'd be swell.
Also an absolutely TREMENDOUS amount of the money that goes to schools is just pissed away, so no--they don't need more money. They need to use the money they DO get better.
No. Believe me the school's in my local area are WELL FUNDED. I live in 1 of the 3 richest counties in my state. If they are having money problems it's the incompetent school system. How bout we fix the problem and fire some dead weight instead.
I do not trust publc education to do anything good with children. More money simply assures more abuse of power.
ABSOLUTELY!
No, I would not. I do not agree with many things that public schools push and school districts are not known to put teachers first. School districts are well-known for lying about where money goes.
Hell no! Why is the lying, thieving government even running schools? It should all be private.
What about the poor children
The problem with struggling schools isn't funding, it's the kids are dumb and the parents don't give a toss. Unless you change attitudes no amount of cash will fix the problems.
That already occurs. It's called property tax. Some states tack on additional taxes to go toward public schools.
Yea but not all of us live in areas where property taxes are enough
Our schools have shortfalls, but it's because of the spending. Every student received a personal bottle of hand sanitizer on a silicone key chain and a lanyard to clip on their face mask. All 3 items were complete in the school colors and logo. That we NOT the extra covid money from the state. We got new XL school flags for every light post on school grounds with that money.
My daughter was in private school where parents paid tuition. The spending there compared to public is night and day. The building wasn't as pretty nor did the hvac work well, but the teachers and students had everything they needed and the school used their covid money to put cams & screens in EVERY classroom so every class was on Zoom and not one student missed. That school was only closed 1 day (March 17, 2020).
We've had the school threaten to cut art, threaten to cut band, etc. Then we see a dumpster show up and get filled up with perfectly nice chairs, tables, and office desks because the principal found some he thought look nicer.
Then there were the school themed towels and socks for every student and teacher, the new marquee for the principal's personal entertainment, new stripes in the parking lot, and the school begging for money for turf, a crumbling gymnasium, and doubling the parents fees for sports.
Hell no, my money, fk off. I have nothing towards schools but $50 of my unknown check just to give kids education for them and they MIGHT be the next elon musk in the...
Oh hell no.
would I trust more money to politicians... absolutely not
for them to have more of my money, won't make them less dishonest lmfao
and I already dedicate a lot of hours to my local schools as a tutor and do so to improve the education of many students... free of any pay as well, it is volunteering (except for the symbolic paycheck to ensure safety)
absolutely not. If I had kids I rather pull them out of public school homeschool them and spend that $50+ on their talents/ passion.
What about the other kids?
This already does happen via property taxes.
I rather put the money directly in the persons hand
Umm... way more than $50 is taken for local schools and those schools are crap due to teachers unions taking all the money.
I would only be ok with that if our public schools actually started to cater to the needs of boys and not just girls.
What do you mean by that
The government can say whatever they want but I have zero reason to trust those liars
It is going there for sure
That’s what they’ll tell you while they line their pockets
Nah bro this money is going to education
Oh yeah. The same education system that promotes trans ideology?
I already support public school through my taxes.
In my country, that's half a man's monthly pay. So no way I am going to let it go like that
I don't have any children, so why should I pay money for someone eles rug rat.
No to $5 but $.5 yes and that’s sufficient if you multiply by every paycheck in the country
I don't even make 50K in one pay check
That’s part of property taxes…
No, that's unacceptable
Nope.
NO!.
Why not?
look at all of the other answers explaining no and you will know why.
