In my state it costs $18, 000 per year, to educate a third grade student. You and I both know that the private sector could match or beat that price, and actually teach kids something other than the LGBTQRS crap.
I'm not talking about parents paying out-of-pocket, nothing would change in that regard. You would just be sending your kid to a quality school, instead of the current government clown show.
Yea it’s time to abolish the American education system. One can’t even send there kid to school with out them trying to chop the twig and berries off and call him a girl or send there daughters to school without them chopping off her breast and calling her a boy. Time to end American education

Does your area have charter schools? Betsy Devos talks about them a great deal in her book ‘Hostages no more’ about her experience as 45s education secretary. Chartres kind of split the difference, and that they are simultaneously publicly funded and autonomous and union free. They allow good teachers to be great teachers and they allow administrations to get rid of bad teachers. Ultimately I am in favor of what is called school choice, that being the money allotted out of school tax revenues to educate a child goes where the parents send the kid, not to the assigned school where their neighborhood location dictates. I can personally guarantee you a private school that didn’t have all the union driven hangups could produce a better educated more well-rounded respectful and possessed of a better work ethic student for half that. The kids would get a better education, which would cost the parents less taxes. It’s a win for everybody but the grifters in the education industrial complex.
Which is exactly why you know it will never happen.
The people who owned this country need a public education system to socialize the cost of training their worker drones and soldiers, so they need that education industrial complex in place as it stands using an 1840s Prussian style system to guarantee compliance and produce the type of graduate who is useful to owners not which is useful to graduates.

What I would like is that every child got a bursary for $x and the parents chose the school their child went to and consequently got the $x. $x+y if the child is handicapped in some way.
Why should public schools be given a monopoly? Teachers unions exploit it to teach pronouns.
I don't know if it happened in the US but one of our TV channels took recent high school grads and pitted them against their parents and grandparents in basic maths and literacy. The recent grads came last.
Too much time on pronouns and not enough on basics.

@Sixgunsound Interesting Sixgun. In Aust there is subsidisation of private schools which are predominantly run by Catholic Church. Lots of non catholic parents choose catholic schools because they are way better than public. Teacher unions are always gunning for their funding to eliminate competition of course.

Trump’s secretary of education made a career out of defunding unions to empower parents to give their students the best education they could. She was the only education secretary in US history to receive credible death threats on a regular basis and instead of unarmed security be escorted by federal Marshals to every school building or speaking stop she visited. That’s how much the teacher mafia hated her because of how dangerous she was to them.

My cousin and I took an English class together in high school.
Our teacher was very liberal, and we were raised to be conservatives.
The teacher's passion was debating, so we gave him a run for his money. We both got A's for challenging him. But we never learned a thing in that class. I don't know how he was a teacher.
He told the class that capital punishment doesn't work. I told him it's not supposed to "work" but it's very effective in stopping repeat offenders. lol
It was an easy "A." He loved to be challenged, but most were too afraid to do so. Other than math, I never learned anything in high school.
That was about my experience of English as well. It was the worst taught subject. At the least, you should come out being able to write clear concise instructions/information in a business setting. In my case they diverted to creative writing early on when none of us were going to be novelists.
Mostly it was a waste of time.
Unfortunately now they cut down the time on the three R's to indoctrinate liberal views.

Our history class was worse. He just paced back and forth and muttered to himself. We all just talked and played games. No one in the private sector would hire that moron. But he fit in nicely with public education.
I'm not joking. We never once talked about history, read a book or had an assignment.
Hopeless. Second worse for me was the french teacher but at least he was entertaining. He had a hearing aide. So if we stuck our hand up and mouthed a question he would twiddle the volume for ages.
I can't I would recommend many of the teachers for employment and I was at a private school.

I was homeschooled myself. I don't know much about public schools other than the fact they are affordable for the less fortunate groups who, at this point and with automation, are absolutely in need of good education.
The privatization of the penal system certainly didn’t improve things. Why would the privatization of education? You think profits won’t be prioritized over our kids’ education? Ell oh ell! People die every day of preventable and treatable illnesses and injuries because we literally prioritize profits over life and health. The future of education isn’t even on the list as priorities go. Everyone wants to get rich and nobody cares who or what they have to destroy to make it happen, including children.

My comment was referring to the people who let children lose. Children in the public school system lose when adults priority their safe easy cushy careers, benefits, and retirement packages over students. The union bosses are the ones who make all that happen, and even publicly admitted that students are not even a consideration when deciding how better to serve the adults involved. The union bosses prioritize returning on the investment (profits to themselves and teachers) of union dues exclusive of any meaningful benefit to students. Sorry I didn’t explain long form the first time.
I used to be a public school teacher, and even I like the idea. Some public schools are great (for example, ones having an IB program), but the failing ones absolutely should be gradually replaced with vouchers.
Two issues that would need to be resolved is the expense to private schools of taking students they might not otherwise accept and liability when they're sued. Public school districts are sometimes sued frivolously, but the locality pays or has their own attorneys on the payroll to defend the lawsuits.
I don’t suppose getting every parent who enrolls their student in a private school to sign a memorandum of understanding that if their kid acts like a little shit they’re going to get dropped from the program would stand up in court, would it? Not in as many words but you know what I mean.

In my state, you could only buy hard booze from a government store. Everyone accepted this, because only government people are smartly. (much like Joey Biden) It came to a referendum vote. The gov got slaughtered. This isn't about booze, it's about getting rid of the nanny state.
The federal government needs to increase fund schools and shut the fuck up about petty superficial shit. Progressive tax the crap out of Conservatives AND Liberals either at the Federal or State level, I don’t care. There is a VERY serious problem with responsible use of smart phones and social media. These kids have short attention spans and their math skills are awful. While these two parties are busy fighting about stupid shit and hoarding money, kids of ALL races and genders are falling behind.

Conservatives/Liberals and Democrats/Republicans alike have lost their way and been so focused on profiting from globalization, they all neglected our own youth at home. The US amount of published papers per capita sucks compared to Scandinavian countries. That’s one thing they got right. They may be more progressive and socialist, but one thing they don’t fuck around on is educating their youth. Their is public educational shit for kids everywhere over there from what I’ve read. One time I went to the DMV to get my driver's license renewed. I took a number and left to go grocery shopping. After that, I treated myself to lunch at Dairy Queen. When I got back to the DMV, I was as thrilled that there were ONLY about 30 people ahead of me in line. That's the gubment.

You can definitely teach, but it's not fair that the parents have to pay twice.
That’s why school choice is sooooooo important. That way the money follows the student whether that is public private charter homeschool or somewhere in between. The public unions naturally oppose it because they wouldn’t have any students.

The unions rob teachers of their dues before payroll is checks are issued and then use the number of people enrolled as leverage to threaten politicians into making it illegal not to join the union. That doesn’t pass the sniff test. Either join the mafia or don’t be a teacher.
Which is BS. You are absolutely correct that the small schools with the good teachers who have to earn their positions every day as opposed to only until they get tenure would be beacons on a hill.

My cousin's wife is a Spanish teacher. She's very liberal and likes open borders. I don't want to cause trouble, but I know a little bit about teaching a foreign language. I taught English as a foreign language.
They would never hire a teacher who spoke "fluent" English. Fluent just means you can get by. They ONLY hired teachers who are native speakers. There's a huge difference. You've been immersed in English before you could walk.
Example:
I AM hungry.
You ARE hungry.
Six IS hungry.
You just can't explain how fucked up the English language is. You just need to know what sounds right.
My point is that we can all be replaced by illegals, but I don't think she gets that. If schools were private, I doubt she'd have been hired.
English is actually three languages stacked on top of each other wearing a trench coat that pickpockets other languages as it feels the need to. And then there are the dialects. Omfg the dialects and continental differences.

There should be an allowance for each child individually and then they can take that and go to any school they and their family feels best for them, and the families that do send their kids to Private Schools shouldn't have to pay local taxes for the public schools on top of their kids Private Education.

The way I envision it, a smart guy like you might have space for 5 students. That's 90 grand per year for you. Your school would have an American flag in the room, and a Christmas tree during the season.
Your kids would know the names of every state, and their capitals. They would know the basics of math and science, and they kick ass if the choose to go to college. 
Or you could send them to a government school.

Here’s the thing, I work in a private school. I support School Choice. But I cannot support the abolition of public schools. Nor can I support public funds going to for profit institutions that people like Betsy DeVos are heavily invested in.
