What would you do if you got fired and your friend told the whole town you got fired?

If one gets fires and then the first thing that happens is the friend starts BLAH... BLAH... BLAH... to the world then I can do nothing but confirm that it is factual. If I feel so inclined, I will tell the story. That being said, I have learned that sometimes the straight facts or less best applies.

Either way, I slowly back out of the friendship as not to make it look retaliatory because, "he just got fired... can't believe he drop a friend over that."

Then that is not your friend to begin with. Cos what business does this friend have for telling the whole town that you got fired?
