Do you think people should get paid according to the amount of work they do?

Instead of paying everyone minimum wage and having varying levels of work ethic, do you think it would be more effective to encourage people to get paid for working harder?

I think minimum wage is debatable, because somebody who teaches art to kids should not be making the same as somebody who stands for 8 hours a day in dress shoes at a check out line. It would be better if they had minimum wage laws based on job function and age.

If I was an employer I’d much rather pay someone based on amount of work and what they got done than per hour. Some jobs you have to pay per hour though just because someone needs to be there and part of the payment is then being there…. Like babysitting. However, I’d def pay more for one that can cook a nice dinner for the kid play with them and make sure the house isn’t a pig sty when you come back.

Yes of course because if someone knows they’re going to get paid the same amount as everyone else regardless of how much or how little work they do there’s no incentive to work harder. It may diminish the quality of those who work hard knowing they’re not going to get paid more when their co-worker isn’t doing a damn thing. So in turn your hood workers quality of work may diminish.

What do you mean by harder? Longer? I'm a software developer. I don't know how I could work harder. Working longer hours isn't useful either. Tired programmers wrote bad code.
