Could I quit my job with this much money saved up?

thinking about quitting my job before i find a new one.

My brain is really fied from working 60 hours a week during the summer my mental health is all messed i need a couple months to relax

A good amount to have saved up is 6 months if you want to keep it super safe.


But 3 months of savings is enough if you’re confident you’ll land a job.


Less than 3 months, only if you’re VERY confident that you’ll be able to land a job.


I’ve been cut from a sales job on a Friday and literally landed a position with a bigger company, literally over the weekend, starting Monday.


Another time, I found myself without a home and without a job during the pandemic, but I landed a remote job with a large company (that advertised at the Super Bowl) in just 3 weeks.


So, how much you should have saved greatly depends on how easily you can find work again.


With a solid resume, great work experience, and killer interview skills, you’ll be fine.


If you apply for another job before you quit though, that’s ideal because it shows your new employer that you have options. 🤙

There were times in the past that I really thought of quitting before finding another job. (Not for a long time though.) I never did quit early like that though. Once I took a job offer quickly just to get out of an awful job and started that job the day after I left the old one. It turned out to be a good move and a stepping stone towards a better job.

Get fired, that way you can collect unemployment while looking for a new job.

Lol you can do whatever you want it’s a free country, for the most part it is. As for being mentally exhausted that’s on you for working that much. You can quit if you’d like but some potential employers may ask for an explanation in the gap of work. Depending on how much you have you might be ok to quit for for a few months. A good rule to go by is to have at least 3-6 months of finances saved up. Meaning how much do you need for essentials like rent, food, etc. If you have enough to cover that for 3-6 months you should be ok.

If you have enough money saved up to last you a year, I'd say you're fine taking some time off. Or take a part time job somewhere to take it easier.

I would recommend staying until ur new job starts but if ur job is fucking with u that bad n your working to much I would just go ahead and say fuck it if u got the money n thr jobs are easy to come by where you're, you just might get away without working for alil.
