I am a student in a top British university and I see that people only study and drink, without getting enough sleep. I know that people think this is the time of their lives and they will have a boring job and a boring life afterwards, but it's a bit too much.

It's not uncommon for students at top universities to experience high levels of stress and pressure to perform academically, which can lead to unhealthy habits such as excessive drinking, lack of sleep, and neglecting self-care. However, it's important to recognize that this is not a problem unique to top universities, and can occur at any academic institution.
That being said, universities do have a responsibility to provide resources and support for students to maintain their mental and physical health while pursuing their academic goals. This can include access to counseling services, wellness programs, and educational resources on topics such as stress management and healthy habits.
If you or someone you know is struggling with the demands of university life, I would encourage seeking out the available resources and support on your campus. It's important to prioritize your health and well-being, both during your time in university and beyond.
Unhealthy or not, this is what academia demands of you, and for many the first taste of independence. Yeah, some people are going to go a little crazy now that they're not being constantly monitored by their family and are able to make their own choices for the first time. There are healthy ways to do it, but it's always at the cost of something else in their lives. If you focus on just making sure you study often enough and sleep well, you're going to miss out on social events. If you focus on making sure you study and have a social life, you're not going to get a lot of sleep. If you focus on sleeping well and having a social life, you're not going to do that well in school. It's difficult to balance the three when this is someone's first experience with having any kind of work-life balance. It takes experience and time to know how to handle it in a way that doesn't cause some kind of detriment to your life.
