Do you think university lecturers, or professors are overpaid?

I personally believe they are overpaid. Because most them just make the students do most of the work and take credit for it.

And many are just full of attitude. As if, they are frozen in time when they cracked some difficult exam. I mean, that is just you. Students don't really care about that.

Give me such an opinion, that would compel me to change my opinion on this. I am ready to modify my opinion on varying degrees. Maybe even change it. You just need to convince me.

The actual job of a university proffessor is to do research. The problem is, that this costs money. They pay that cost by making their research available to anyone who studies their subject. They aren't supposed to be teachers. Its supposed to be a way to make it easier for students and help them, but mainly to make their research available and getting paid to continue their research. They are scientist not teachers!

Let me put my answer into context. I am not from the U. S. I am in close contact with some university professors from germany. While the payment may be different the way their job works should still be the same.

University professors aren't supposed to teach much they are meant for research. They are largely underpaid. All of the modern things that you see came from university pressors, medicine, vaccine, computers, cars everything. It requires a postdoc nowadays to become an assistant professor and when someone is starting their job around 32-33 their salary should be higher. General people can't imagine the hardships of life devoting so many years to study/research by that time most of your friends are well settled with a decade of job experience and a good amount of money.

People with no degree or just a college degree make more money than Noble laureates.

They are not overpaid based on the level of degree and state exams they have to pass in order to qualify for that position, plus the expense of obtaining that degree and credential.

BUT, as in all professions, there are plenty of lazy people that don't do their job well. Those ones shouldn't have the job at all, not lower the pay of the ones that actually do their job like they are supposed to do.

only professors at prestigious universities are overpaid. vast majority of professors at your typical university is a part time adjunct professor, getting paid almost as much as minimum wage with no benefits. you might not believe it but its true.

Diversity officers though? Yes. They should pay back every cent that they were ever paid for their role in the destruction of higher education, as well as the extortion of families who thought they were paying for said higher education.
