Why are some academically smart people so dumb and superficial in their spare time?

I've noticed that many smart undergraduate students with great marks are full of clichés in their conversations in spare time, or they shout and behave like idiots when they go out. They get good marks, but when you want to talk about the degree outside the class, they don't want to talk about it and seem so bored of it.

Well it could be because they spent so much time studying that they don't quite have the social skills of others.

Higher intelligence generally means higher levels of depression because you see the world for what it is. I think that goes along with why they seem so disinterested in things.
I am someone who generally had high grades and school was boring to me because it never challenged me. It was all just busy work which I thought was super dumb. Do all this homework, pass your tests, show up on time, but you're not expected to remember much of it which is why we take algebra or history or English for 3-6 years throughout school and then again in college. So talking about schoolwork outside of school was just not interesting. In my opinion, school is about forcing people to conform to social standards. Essentially training people to be zombies for their work as adults. I always knew I could do anything I wanted because of my intelligence and talents but as far as actually deciding what I wanted to do was pretty difficult. It didn't help either that I was never set up for success outside of the school system due to poor home situations. Even now I'm not entirely sure what I want out of life so I had no real answers when people asked about my degree or what I wanted to do with it. I just wanted to be happy.
The reason they can act crazy in their spare time is because that's how they have fun. Yelling, playing, being "weird" is how people release emotions in a healthy way. Playing is just another way to express positive emotions and enjoy life. Adult life doesn't have to be so mundane or boring.
