Have not yet graduated from college.
In high school, it was a platform. We did ours outside in front a huge Georgian building with white pillars called Archbold. We got up, walked to the stairs on the one side of the platform and crossed to the other side. Sort of a stage but it wasn't.
Here's a picture at my high school now. We didn't have the weird cover things over the platform.

Highschool I graduated on stage cause I wanted to graduate with my friends.
Community college I skipped out on graduation and had them mail me my associates diploma. The reason being was graduation for the community college was going to be in December and I was transferring to university that August.
University I definitely walked on stage.
This time I don't know I'm probably going to have the university I am currently mail me my diploma for my masters degree honestly.

@Lucy68 When I got my Masters Degree I fully intended to go to the ceremony but I completely forgot about it. A few weeks later I got a mailing tube from the college and I thought it was a calandar or maybe the schedule for the hockey team. It tuns out it was my diploma. I;m glad I didn't throw it in the trash.

+1 yI had to walk the stage every time (graduating preschool, HS, juco, and uni PLUS anytime i won an award). I begged everytime to just be mailed my stuff. Walking was optional but no my mom was like OH NO YOU GONE WALK 😭🤣

Our school surprisingly let people walk even if they didn't graduate because my old friends Darius and Avery failed their senior exams. One chose to walk but the other saved himself the embarrassment since everyone at school knew the truth anyways. And poor Corey. Omg that dude was in his 20s in HS and failed again
+1 ySkipped it for college... that stuff is lame. Skipped it for High School as well.
I think that stuff is for attention freaks or people with parents that want to take pictures.
Boot camp was a forced ceremony, but I sure didn't have anyone fly out just to watch me march around like a retard.

Nah he helped me graduate he was a good guy helped me get everything and helped get into the Army when I didn't know much about what the asvab required & got me the write study books so when I came in I studied that ish until I went to MEPS and passed with a 56 and at the time the passing score was 31. I remember when I first did it I got a score of 13 cause I didn't know shit its like I didn't become smart until I was 19 and that teacher brought it out of me. Nothing but love for him.
+1 yI'm not allowed on campus to walk across the stage for grad school because I don't have a covid passport. Even after all this time, high minded academia still enforces their othering of those outside their echo chamber by armed guards.
