How do people mostly find a job these days in America?

I was unemployed last year. I went up on a few websites. I liked Zip Recruiter the best. Dice was the other one. I had to apply to about a hundred jobs before I was hired. Ironically I actually applied for two jobs in the same week and I was hired by both places.

Mostly online or through networking, applications are online mostly these days

Depends a lot on their experience / training. Finding a job working retail is different from finding a job as an astrophysicist, is different from trying to find the first step on a career path when you get out of high school

I am retired and have turned down several jobs. Mainly because I am limited to earned income for another year.
Need to put yourself out there! Plenty of help wanted signs out there.
