I had some issues with other staff members being funny and talking about me behind my, back as well as to patients. I reported it and the manager above my manager (we'll call J, who is technically just filling in for ours) seemed upset about it and the other one, J didn't seem that concerned.
She did what she was told and handled it but I feel like she took it upon herself to give the others a heads up and took it easy on them instead of what her supervisor would have wanted.
fast forward to 2 weeks ago when i needed a new key to be able to get into the building. The other new girl (an RN) said she was given a new one after the first one was the wrong one and told me to ask the front desk girl.
I asked her and she told me she didn't have access to them, so I asked J and J told me that she'd ask the front desk girl. I heard nothing back then later I asked the front desk girl again and she told me that J said they didn't have anymore copied and had to make some more. They give me the run around
Yet the RN got hers without an issue. There's a stark difference in how me and the other new girl are treated.
I work my a** off and do my job well for someone new yet my co-workers still act funny towards me. The RN has gotten out of working most of her closing shifts yet I've had to work until close as well as everyone else.
I don't think the key part would be considered workplace retaliation but is is shady.

It's possible they are retaliating, but I think it's unlikely. Everything they said might be true. There is nothing that stands out as red flags. If you continue to get the runaround, then maybe you can conclude something, but it's not to that point yet.
As for the original issue of people talking behind your back, you should have dealt with that yourself, not gone to managers. Managers hate dealing with that sort of thing, and expect you to be an adult and work out issues with other employees yourself. If something is REALLY bad, then you might be justified going to management or HR. But someone talking behind your back doesn't come close to falling into that category.
Or they should have been more adult like and kept their mouth shut about me instead of whispering to patients as if it were ok
Maybe they should have kept their mouth shut, but it's up to you to deal with it. This is the stance management is most likely to take.
How do you know what people are saying behind your back? What did you hear from patients?
I can hear them. Even though they think theyre low I can hear them.
100% yes!
