For those of you who have ever disliked a manager or leader in any position and chose to show a lack of respect for them, what are some things you didn’t like about those managers.
What are some quality’s about them you’d change?
A lot of those complaints are not actually complaints as such but more display of jealousy.
If you are a new hire that has been hired from outside the company, a lot of people get jealous that they were not chosen and that someone else with less company seniority has been elected to "rule" over them.
Managers or assistant managers are not persons that must be liked by the staff and coworkers because they have to take decisions that are in the best interest of the company and often against the wellbeing of the employees. You have to live with that and accept those negative points.
Don't try to be "friends" with employees because you will only make the situation worse by having a few people on your side while the others are against you. This creates even more tension within the company or department.
What you can do is keep an open ear for complaints and try to be a mediator between management and staff. If you succeed, then you will earn their respect. The important is to be able to impose yourself but still respect every party.
I only ever had one manager that I was none to impressed with. The younger intermediates knew more than he did and I'm not saying that because I was jealous. I would have put two other intermediate people in his slot before me.
The second thing that I disliked most about him was that he took other peoples work and claimed the accolades himself. If upper managers were not impressed with the work, he was quick to blame younger staff.
Usually it's been because that manager was not honest or only cared about their own interests.

Sit them down and talk to them listen to their complaints. Try to do something about it make it happen.
Were you promoted at the same place?
