I'm at intermediate level with French and have been for the longest. My issue isn't learning from the start nor constructing sentences, nor the vocabulary nor basic verb conjugation. I already know all the basic material and sometimes can verbally say a longer conversation, involving a life event.
My issues is speaking it more fluently and faster. If I'm at intermediate and have some understanding, how long will it take to speak it fluently?

I'm talking about getting to the point of speaking French fluently (even if I have some accent, but faster without difficulty) with native speakers.

You're at a level where plateauing is a common problem. It sounds like you need more contact with a French-speaking environment.
Yes it seems that's the only way. I took French during my HS years and the first couple months of college but then everything is all forgotten and there is no one to practice it with nor speak with. None of my classmates that took French in HS knows anything years later. That's sad.
I haven't forgotten what I've learned though. I haven't practiced French online for years and when I took an exam, at least my level was still intermediate but yeah no progress ever since.

One trick you can use is talking to yourself, e. g., having convos or making observations when you don't have anyone to talk to in the language. When I first saw that suggestion, I thought it was silly, but it works!
Good suggestion. Thank you.
You're welcome, and I hope that helps. French is a wonderful language.
True. It's useful for arts, literature, poetry, pastry, acting, history, etc. I already know English and Spanish. If I get to master French that would be great. Then I would be able to call myself trilingual.
And then you can take on Portuguese and Italian!
True. Thanks
I think that depends on how fast of a learner you are
I tend to learn more and be motivated when something is dynamic or if it reminds me of a personal event or experience. When it's one of those long, old-fashioned lectures or someone just teaching to get it done and over with (aka bad teacher), that either makes it boring or it takes me a while to learn.
For instance I learned about the French verbs in the past tense by listening to the horror story of 3 small children visiting the field and butcher killed them. It's a fictitious song off course but yeah French does have its horror too. Interesting.
So you have a way of learning, which I'm sure everyone does, yours is from amusement I think, that's good tho, I hope you learn what you are trying to learn
